“Tusk” holds the current record for a piece furthest from home! Approximately 11,600 miles from the studio, it is permanently displayed at the Perth Observatory @perthskysculpture waaaaaaayyyyy down under! Huge thanks to Johannes Pannekeok @johannespannekoek , an incredible sculptor, for bringing me into this project. Grand opening is November 1st, so IF you happen to be in the hood, stop by!!

From last month’s opening of “Ladan Sedighi: The Paradise of Cyrus” at Royale Projects. This show is total eye candy, full of sleek, minimalist work grounded in color and materiality. The glossy top coat of the paintings contrasts with the raw wood along the sides of the wall-based works. All the panels of the paintings are reflective to some degree, adding an experiential element as the works shift depending on where you stand. I recommend seeing this show in person if you can!!

Some things have a funny way of coming full circle. A very special opening for Evergreen, Paul Paiement’s solo exhibition at Sabbatikal. Thank you to everyone who came out, filled the space, shared a drink, and made the evening what it was. It was a great way to celebrate the end of this heat wave. And a little extra love for Paul and Janice, who have been part of this place since before it was much of anything. Evergreen is on view through November 8. Visits by appointment. Join us for the Artist Walkthrough on Saturday October 24th from 4 to 5 pm. Please register via the Partiful link in bio. There will be cold drinks and bites for those that come through.

Spent a couple days in Hilton Head giving Carocol some love. Been at this site for 13 years. Some rough spots but over all not too bad! Sealed up with Tnemec 135 mid coat and 195 top coat. She’s gonna be good for a while. Always great to get a chance to spend time with an older work. I remember working on this 13 years ago in Brooklyn. It’s like a little Time Machine! Big thanks to Natalie and the folks @culture_hhi for hosting the piece ! #sculpture #publicart #steelsculpture #abstractart

This fall, the Coastline College Art Gallery is hosting 10 incredible galleries as part of our boutique art fair, Under One Roof. We kicked off the semester with our September 19 reception, and we’ll wrap up the exhibition with our final reception on Saturday, October 24. Come out, explore a wide variety of artwork, meet the galleries and artists, and experience it all Under One Roof at Coastline College Art Gallery.

“Based in Corona del Mar, Liz frequently travels to Los Angeles, crossing what some still call the Orange Curtain. But she believes the curtain needs to go. Her focus is on dissolving that outdated divide and helping unify the vibrant and often under recognized art communities of Orange County with the broader energy of LA.“ When I wrote that for my Pelican Art Circle profile over a year ago, I had no idea what that would or could look like. I still don’t know but seeing glimpses like this makes me so happy!! This weekend David Lee had a reception for boutique art fair, “Under One Roof” hosted by Coastline Gallery. David asked me if I had any gallery suggestions for the fair and I immediately thought of friends who had shown an interest in getting better acquainted with the OC by coming to PAC happy hours. Both local and LA based PAC friends showed up as galleries, artists and patrons, and what could have been a quick in and out for some turned into familiar faces being greeted and more introductions being made. It’s not easy to get out on a Tuesday, but somehow many of you do as far as from LA, San Diego and Palm Springs. Those efforts, both local and from afar, are not overlooked. And the same goes for everyone here who keeps showing up, bringing someone new, making an introduction or simply saying hello to someone they recognize from the last time. So if you haven’t been able to join us because it’s on a Tuesday, I completely understand. PAC isn’t really about a Tuesday night. It’s about what happens because of it. Next Happy Hour is October 6th at Hotel Laguna. Next reception at the Coast Galley is October 26th. Thank you @davidmlee00 for your vision and work behind the scenes to make this happen.

Nice to have LA in OC! I love this mini boutique art fair idea. What a fun evening with old friends and new. I had to refill the candy dish twice! Highlights include: ...reminiscing about low brow art of the 90's while admiring new contemporary works on view with @liz_wallen and @thinkspace_art ...hearing about the evolutionary material process behind the luscious color and texture in the works of @shaunalanla @royaleprojects ...finding Curtis Mayfield readily available in the gallery record collection of @davidmlee00 ...chatting up @eduardomedranoj of @johndoegallery about the the intersection of the arts and business ...and of course it is always a treat to see my @shoeboxarts.la artists in person closer to home Under One Roof Boutique Art fair On view now -Nov 6 Wed- Fri 11:00-4:00 Coastline Art Gallery 1515 Monrovia Blvd Newport Beach, CA #brachscandy #socalart #artfair #artopening laartists ...
