No leg drive. No pushing into the floor.
Almost impossible to cheat.

Cable Seal Rows. 🔥

With your chest supported and your feet completely off the floor, you’ve essentially removed your lower body from the equation.

That lets you focus on taking the back muscles you’re actually trying to train closer to failure.

Then you get all the advantages of cables: constant tension throughout the rep, tons of grip and attachment options, and a resistance vector you can change depending on where you place the bench and pulleys.

Want to build a wider back?
Pull low toward the hips with the elbows tucked to bias the lats a bit more.

Want more upper-back thickness?
Pull higher with more elbow flare to shift more emphasis toward the traps, rhomboids, and rear delts.

Roll that bench over to the cables and you get the stability and strictness of a seal row + the versatility of cables.

Chest-Supported Barbell Rows. 🔥

👉🏼 All the freedom of a barbell row, with almost none of the room to “cheat.” 👈🏼

I love a good chest-supported T-bar row, and I’m not giving those up anytime soon! But this setup might have a few advantages, depending on your goals and preferences:

The bar is completely free, so I can pull back toward my hips instead of being locked into the arc created by a landmine.

And there’s almost nowhere to hide here. Because only my upper chest is supported, it’s extremely difficult to roll my torso up, extend through my low back, or use much hip/glute drive to help finish the rep.

(I honestly don’t know HOW you could pull your chest up off the support on this one!)

Another difference: with a landmine/T-bar setup, the resistance profile changes as the bar travels through its arc. Here, the load stays vertical because the bar isn’t anchored to the floor.

Plus, you’ve got plenty of freedom with grip and wrist position. Pronated, supinated, different grip widths. Or, you can use the exact same setup with dumbbells.

Basically: a very strict row with a free bar path and very little opportunity to cheat the reps.

I haven’t done these in a long time, so big thanks for the original video @errol_fit_talib! 🙏🏼 Definitely not gonna let these fall out of the rotation again. 💪🏼
