🌍❤️ KINDNESS HAS NO BORDERS!

Today, we're celebrating kindness and the incredible power of young people to make the world a better place!

Over the years, Global Lighthouse Studios™ has collaborated with students around the world to create original songs about kindness, compassion, and empathy. Different cultures, different voices, but one universal message! ❤️🎶

That same spirit is at the heart of The Future We Create™, where we're empowering students to turn their creativity and ideas into meaningful solutions.

Because kindness is more than something we sing about. It's something we put into action!

🎶 Enjoy this short clip from “Kindness Is Beautiful,” an original song we created with second graders at PS 204 in Brooklyn, New York, featuring the wonderful singer and actress Teresa Hui on vocals!

@newyorkcomiccon Photo dump day 2! Mirabel once again graces the halls of the Javits Center. A busy comic con turning into an even busier night with the #NYCC Talent Show! This Friday was jam packed, with reuniting again with friends, helping host day 2 of the Broadway/Theatre meetup, and then my performance! I’ve done Mirabel performances before, but this was my first time doing somethin major at NYCC. Everything this day was such a success.

I got so much support from my talent show performance, and those that helped put together and show up to the meetup. Thanks more making this comic con such a memorable one.

What a special evening with our @achilles_international family! A packed room of Achilles athletes & guides came together for a screening of “FINAL FINISHERS”the award-winning sports documentary short produced by @nyrr. It was heartwarming to see our community show up to celebrate Achilles athletes @hannahgavios and Michael Ring (@chickenunderwear) with Janelle- @janhart26 who are featured in the film.
This beautiful documentary celebrates the grit, determination, and perseverance of the final finishers of the @nycmarathon.
Following the screening, Hannah, Michael, and Janelle shared more of their personal stories during a wonderful Q&A. The evening continued with pizza and great conversation!
A tremendous thank you to our amazing volunteers who helped make it all possible! 💛
You can watch this amazing film- Final Finishers on Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+

Robots and puppets and muppets and art dominated my @newyorkcomiccon Friday! Started at the @maybehappyending panel then on to the @jimhensonscreatureshop puppeteers. Saw some amazing cosplay (@rubenbeaut’s metro (card) mermaid from Coney Island was so creative!) including Jersey City peeps @meganw_design and @djgeorgesoul and @cosplayin_chilltown. Posed for a few more geeky photo ops. Stopped in at Family HQ to peruse the @civics_for_all offerings and to see what the @501st_ecg had going on (Princess Donut highjacked a droid?). And finished with multiple muppets sightings at the @guyfgilchrist booth, the unofficial Muppet Meet-up, and the @toughpigs muppet art challenge! I snagged an original @davehulteen Animal doodle! Fun fun day, and I only walked 5.7 miles…

Y’all, I hate to inform you that running actually does not suck. It has the absolute audacity to dramatically improve my mental health. It’s wild to say, but: I needed this.

I needed to run a mile in the rain on a Sunday morning. I needed to challenge my body in a different way. I needed the endorphins to bathe my nervous system in the miracle of being alive. I needed to enjoy being publicly mediocre at something, because being able to do it at all is a blessing I couldn’t see coming two years ago.

I needed the Broadway community. I needed to cheer for people and allow them to cheer for me. There’s such a focus of toxicity and distrust on social media these days and it feels radical to refuse that and do the opposite.

Because the truth is: People are actually awesome. And so freaking CUTE. Look at us. We ran a mile in the rain ON PURPOSE just to raise money for @broadwaycares (collectively over $25K!) and take soaked sweaty pictures with each other. That’s adorable. Why are we like this? Then again, why not?

Thank you to @coachben_nyrr and @groovybeetle for your training tips and practical advice. Thank you @jeremykushnier for picking my gear up for me. Thank you @robinabramson81 and documentarian extraordinaire @rubenbeaut for taking all the pictures. Thank you @gabelisabeth for being the best umbrella buddy…and for very kindly reminding me, “you are a runner, because you ran.”

And a very special THANK YOU to everyone who donated and helped us raise $30K for @broadwaycares ❤️❤️❤️ you made a difference in your small part of the world and that’s worth more than you know!

Might have to do this again sometime…

WHAT CAN THE CITIES OF THE PAST TEACH US ABOUT BUILDING THE FUTURE?

Ancient Cities of the Future™ is one of the Global Lighthouse Studios™ course offerings available to Chicago Public Schools through the Ingenuity - Chicago Creative Schools Fund.

Designed for middle and high school students, this interdisciplinary Arts + STEAM residency challenges students to explore how ancient civilizations approached architecture, water, food, transportation, energy, and community design—and then use those lessons to imagine and build their own sustainable cities of the future.

Students become artists, architects, designers, storytellers, and creative problem-solvers, bringing their ideas to life through visual arts, sustainability, hands-on design, and model building.

Enjoy this recap from our culminating STEAM Day celebration at John Dewey High School in New York this past June, where students brought their future-city ideas to life!

Interested in bringing Ancient Cities of the Future™ to your middle or high school students?

Explore the past. Imagine the future. Build what comes next.

Crazy story about me and Tony Award Winner @nikkimjames : We sang in the alto section for MENC All-Eastern Honors Chorus at Carnegie Hall back in 1999 (along with Anne Hathaway!)! All-Eastern was the best of the best from high schools across the East Coast. I had gotten the CD liner notes a while back from another chorister friend who was in it with us, and I noticed that Nikki's name was alphabetically right underneath mine in the alto section! A couple of months ago, my sister sent some stuff to my mom's accidentally, including her elementary school report cards, and in it was also a photo of the alto section, and there was Nikki and there was me! Sooo happy to see her after 26 years at the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile, both of us running the Broadway Mile for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS ! Seriously the best reunion ever! 😍Congratulations on finishing the Broadway Mile, and HUGE congrats on your INCREDIBLE career since we sang together at Carnegie Hall a million years ago! 🎭🏃‍♀️👟🏆💖🥰
