Corporate greed and dark money infect everything. Billionaires haven’t stopped at gifting politicians with outsized money for their campaigns. They also captured the Roberts Court, fueling the nominations of GOP-allied Supreme Court justices to do their bidding. Their bottom line? Enrich themselves at the expense of our planet, our workers, and our very democracy.

As Senator @sheldonforri made it clear at our @netrootsnation panel this weekend, “inch by inch, step by step, Republican Supreme Court justices have opened the door to corporate political influence.”

This corrupt Roberts Court is laying out the welcome mat. If a corporate interest is on the docket, you can bet they will get their money’s worth.

This takeover didn’t start with Citizens United. It’s part of a decades-long struggle led by business interests to capture the courts. It’s crucial that we know the history of this takeover and fight back against this authoritarian regime attempting to destroy our rights, our economic security, and our health for generations to come.

Read more about the corporate, rightwing takeover of the Roberts Court in our 2024 @_convergencemag article, “A Brief History of the Right-Wing Takeover of the US Judiciary,” co-authored by @courtaccountability co-founders Alex Aronson and Lisa Graves and movement lawyer @ruby_beth

Recently, I attended @ruby_beth ‘s birth and it reminded me just how important it is to have a grounded, skilled, and connected birth team. As a doula, I support families through the emotional, physical, and spiritual transitions of birth, and this experience highlighted the life-saving importance of collaborative care.

Birth is powerful, beautiful, and deeply transformative, but it can also shift unexpectedly. Having providers who can respond quickly, calmly, and intentionally matters. This is why education, preparation, advocacy, and trust within your birth team are so important during pregnancy and birth planning.

After delivery, things briefly took an unexpected turn, and hearing this mother reflect on her experience deeply moved me:

“And the two of them together worked like dancers with rehearsed choreography when things went awry briefly after delivery. Our pediatrician was the first to say that they saved my life.”

Those words are a reminder that birth work is sacred work. The relationship between doulas, midwives, and families can create not only a supported birth experience, but safer outcomes for mothers and babies.

Every family deserves compassionate, culturally aware, and attentive care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

2025- 🐍Year of the Snake🐍
.
After a year of living in an RV, repairs on my apartment building were finished. I was finally able to move back home. Though, I do miss the RV.
.
I created A LOT of new work I didn't know I would create. Finally selling my work at events I always wanted to be a part of, and learning as much as I have being a vendor- feels amazing.
(BTW, CokiPanda Projex LLC is official 😃)
.
Went on a date, met this guy at Aurora Coffee in L5P. Didn't think much of it going in, but before I knew it, we had spent 5 hours just hanging out. Now he won't leave, I guess I'll hang onto him for awhile.
.
Deftones, Kendrick Lamar & SZA, Devin Townsend, Beyoncé: Cowboy Carter, Act II, DragonCon, Georgia Renaissance Festival, Garbage, Mudvayne with Static-X, and Dia de Los Muertos in L5P. My taste is music continues to be very all over the place.
.
Spending time with new and old friends. Taking care of my grandma. Sunday brunches with my Ma, Grandma, and bf. Connecting more with many ATL communities. There's been a lot of good things for me this year. I'd say it outweighs the bigger stresses, and I'll take it. My only hope is that more begin to have more wins for themselves. ☮️🐼💜

quarterly report for 2025 Q1 is in.
morale and temps started low.
trajectory up was quite slow but fairly steady.
medical hindrances didn't create longterm setbacks. client retention strong.

stats show that increase in friendships, music, travel and basketball reduce apathy and depression.

if every quarter ended in the french one, joy trajectory would stay UP

My November NYC trips always fill my cup! 🥰 During this season of gratitude, I remain grateful for my @possefoundation RF community for the last 5 years! This talented group is filled with award-winning authors, lawyers, educators, activists, therapists, consultants, artists—simply overwhelming brilliance. It’s also filled with some of the kindest, most generous, most loving humans I know. Looking forward to another wonderful retreat season impacting scholars across the country!

It was so beautiful to celebrate the first half-century of @charisbooksandmore with so many beloveds. Charis is truly taking root in the stars right here on earth!!!

Charis has been such a crucial part of my growth as a Black feminist writer since I was a teenager. It is an honor to be part of the soil that keeps this intersectional feminist institution adapting, growing and serving our community with love!!!!✨✨✨✨✨✨✨🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Charis Circle Board Chair Ruby-Beth (@ruby_beth) is here to remind everyone that we are only a couple days away from Give Out Day!

We had an incredible boost in donations bringing us to 83% of our goal, but we still need your help to reach $5,000! Donate $10 today to help fund another year of queer author events, support groups, and community programs.

Starting on May 1st and culminating on May 30th, we are asking supporters to donate $10 to help our queer and feminist organization continue our work for the second half of this year. If 500 people donate $10 this month, we will have $5,000+ more to keep our author events, support groups, and community programs.

Although Charis Circle has a smaller budget and only 3 full-time staff, we are in the medium-size organization category, which means we’re competing with organizations with dedicated fundraising staff. So we need your help to win leaderboard prizes!

Give Out Day is a numbers game! We need MORE PEOPLE to donate, not necessarily higher donations. This helps us take home additional prizes (aka win more money)! We are trying to get as many UNIQUE DONATIONS as possible, so tell your friends, family, comrades, and co-conspirators about us and our work. Donate at the link in our bio!
