Well… that’s my first ever burlesque performance DONE! 💃🔥✨

And WOW… what an experience!

After hours of practising, repeating sequences, trying to remember which bit comes next 🤯, laughing, getting things wrong and doing it all over again… my fabulous “Scooby Booby Gang” and I finally made it to the stage! 💋🫶

And honestly… I loved every minute of it!

There were so many little moments along the way — from debating whether I should wear a wig 😂, to someone casually planting the idea of maybe doing a SOLO performance one day…

Solo?! Me?! 😳😂
Let’s not get carried away just yet! 🤣

One of the things that made the evening even more special was seeing some of my besties there — my burlesque virgins! 🥰❤️

Seeing them laughing, cheering, getting into the show and genuinely having such a great time made me SO happy. Their enjoyment added to mine, and I loved looking over and seeing them having fun and embracing the whole experience.

And honestly… I think there might be a few secret little burlesque queens hiding in that group! 😂💃
Maybe one day they’ll be brave enough to come and shake their titties with me too! 👀🤣💋

And of course, my husband was there too, as always, cheering me on and being my biggest supporter. ❤️ I honestly couldn’t ask for a better cheerleader.

A huge THANK YOU to @rubydwoo for the encouragement, support, patience and mentoring, and to my wonderful 'Scooby Booby Gang' for making this whole experience so much fun. 🥰💋

This wasn’t about being perfect.

It was about being brave enough to try something new, being surrounded by supportive women, having a bloody good laugh… and discovering a little more of myself along the way.

And yes… this is officially another tick off my 50 things to do for my 50th list! ✅🎉

Feeling very grateful, very proud and maybe just a tiny bit addicted to the whole thing… 💋✨

Here’s to trying new things, taking up space, supporting each other, sharing our joy and remembering that it’s never too late to discover a new side of yourself. ❤️

✨ NORTHERN NEWBIES ✨
Now that all of our students have received their photos and soon their videos back, I thought it was time for one final little post to celebrate what we created.

The four of us @hausofrubydwoo @houseofroyaleburlesque @schoolofburly and @theboobytrapburlesque all felt that it would be so lovely to create a showcase where students from different schools could come together, mingle and experience a little bit of what a real show can be like.
But most importantly, we wanted to do it collaboratively and give our students a different opportunity. We see so much competition between schools and producers within our industry, and it was genuinely nice to see everyone just coexist. And it was just, really bloody lovely!

We've all had such an amazing time with creating Northern Newbies, but we also all live in slightly different areas, so we're now going to expand our little idea even further!
✨ Tawny & Roxie will continue with Northern Newbies.
✨ I will be opening Midlands Newbies.
✨ Phoxy will be opening Southern Newbies.

We've already got schools we're looking at collaborating with, and we're really excited to see where this can go.
So, if you're an independent burlesque school in any of these areas and you'd like to be part of a collaborative showcase, please contact any one of us to register your interest.

We're hoping that, in our own small way, we can start fixing a little bit of the burlesque world from the inside. We want to build something that brings people together and helps knit our community in a different way.

And finally to our 16 Northern Newbies performers a huge WELL DONE! You were all absolutely amazing to work with and amazing to watch. I know your instructors think incredibly highly of you, and I hope you're proud of yourselves and the work you've created. Thank you for trusting us, for supporting each other and for being part of our very first Northern Newbies.

Here's to whatever comes next! BIG LOVE 💕

About last night (and the last 6 weeks)… I have had the most amazing experience with @lila_lush_ @lunablaze_burlesque and @edenmagpie and supported all the way by @rubydwoo developing my new act, The Archivist. It’s my second burly act and only the third time performing on stage in the art form I’ve falling in love with.

We had the absolute privilege of representing the @hausofrubydwoo at the first ever Northern Newbies showcase alongside 12 other performers from @theboobytrapburlesque @schoolofburly and @houseofroyaleburlesque When I say there was so much creativity in the room and on the stage, that is a complete understatement. I feel so honoured to have shared the stage and backstage with you all.

It’s been such a fantastic experience, things went wrong, costumes malfunctioned, but after being frustrated, a few tears, and some pep talks/wise words from some absolute beauties, I’ve realised I should still be so proud of myself.

So I’m wiping the blemishes off the rhinestones, and remembering that they shine beautifully. I cannot wait to perform this act again, the archives may have had an inconvenient and temporary maintenance issue, but they are ready for you to have a good proper rummage through again.

Thank you to everyone who came to support the show, your cheers, whooping and hollering was definitely felt whether you were able to make it or not.

@alexastar_rebel @deedee_delight_burlesque @babybel_burlesque you were incredible kittens, and whilst I know you enjoyed picking everyone’s underwear up the most 😇, you were so professional, so kind, so helpful, and the support, words of encouragement and fangirling you gave each and everyone of us was unmatched.

Thanks to all the staff at the @cornexchange_doncaster , venue staff, sound, lighting, videographers and photographers the show couldn’t happen without you.

And a special HUGE thanks to @rubydwoo @theboobytrapburlesque @phoxyqurvy and @roxieroyale for making this happen and creating such amazing schools

⭐️Northern Newbies⭐️

What a show!!!

Last night I had the absolute pleasure of debuting my second act “D1E4U” at the first Northern Newbies show!

✨The vibes were immaculate, it was such a lovely atmosphere to share with my fellow newbies, and so fabulous to meet everyone and to watch their performances!

✨I shared the stage with students from four northern burly schools as we showcased our latest work at the historic @cornexchange_doncaster -
@theboobytrapburlesque
@hausofrubydwoo
@houseofroyaleburlesque
@schoolofburly

✨Thank you to the Corn Exchange staff, the lighting & sound techs, the photographers and videographers as well as the fabulous stage kittens from the Haus of Ruby D Woo. Most of all, to the producers and teachers last night for your invaluable feedback & support and we also need to ensure we give you your flowers too as because of your nurturing and guidance to your students, you’ve created a space that is welcoming and collaborative, a place to make friends and be our most authentic-selves so, thank you.

✨I didn’t manage to capture every performers act last night however, make sure you’re heading over to their profiles to check out their work and future projects!!
