Remember when… Beauty Nation was just an idea, hours of conversations, and pages and pages of notes, what could it look like, does New Zealand need this, what does it stand for, how can we do it, will people care, will brands want to be part of it, fear of rejection, fear of failure, what if… all the unknowns We desperately wanted a team to bring the dream to life, but had to start lean, with no pay, just a desire to create something magical We had many meetings with brands, business owners, beauty lovers, creators, potential sponsors, friends, industry and event experts, about how it could work, and what would resonate with Kiwi beauty lovers… @kennedynz we love this photo as much as we loved the pizza 🍕 The brand development with no budget, the trial and error, the due diligence, too much, too bold, too pink, too boring… endless ideas The first pitch, and the first yes, host city backing and a slow build of sponsorship Our first team made up of two event students and a sales manager, trying to navigate covid… and then we had to put months of hard work on hold 😭 Finally, Launching with a passionate university intern, her first project, a little stand at the NZ cosmetics day, low budget, but bright, and our first LED… slowly seeing the dream come to life as we pitched to industry insiders… and gauged their feedback. The venue visits were intense. Too big? too small? too plain, too much, too expensive, not the right location, not the right layout… all the considerations. We settled on a venue, we signed the contract, basically it was signing our life away… there is no out now! Building another team… social media manager, event manager, marketing, sales and operations, we all wore many hats, all hands on deck, everyone passionate about making the dream a reality… carrying the burden of what if! Finding the dream PR team @riseandshinepr to bring a mini Beauty Nation to life, sharing our why with a room full of creators, pouring our soul into a launch… this was the scariest public speaking moment our founder had ever done! Our first news paper feature in @nzhviva 😍 Our first billboard on Fanshawe Street, Auckland 🪧 Event Setup… the excitement bui
