I love this sport. I love my teammates. I love pushing myself to new limits. I love finally piecing together all the knowledge I’ve learned regarding rest, nutrition, recovery. I’m happy to have taken another 68 seconds off of my half marathon PR to run 1:19:39. I’m thankful to have a supportive fiancee @mannah_hannah. I’m happy that the race is called “Mel foster” half marathon and I got to break a tape with my name on it, haha. More to come this fall! Next up, we got @blazingraceproductions blazing 5k, followed by IMT half, and then Indy marathon in November! Gonna keep chipping away at my dream marathon pace - aka OTQ pace (just under 6’s for the marathon)

Nearly 10 years running around with these goons🏃‍♂️ Iron sharpens iron, and these boys have kept me sharp over the years. Surely, we have at least another 10 years of banter in us right? @bwhalen21 @aob_33 🔥 📸: @jordanwood.media

It's been a whirlwind the last month! @elise.wieland and I bought a new house and are officially Beaverdale residents. The cats love the new home! 🏡 Thanks to all the family members who helped make this move as smooth as possible. Then just because we can't turn down a good time, we also jumped in a few road races. The @nightrundsm mile was a super cool new event where I took 3rd place and Elise snagged 2nd. We followed up with a new 4th of July race for us out at the Webster City Firecracker 5k where I was 2nd place and she took home the gold. I'm excited to see what the back half of summer holds for The Wielands🙌

June has been a great month! Happens to be my birth month, pride month, and it is the start of summer! @grandmasmarathon provided a great opportunity for a marathon PR. Running has been my oldest and most complicated relationship. I never expected I would reach a place where I’d be well under 3 hours in the marathon. Consistent training and eating enough to sustain that training are key components. Oh, yeah, another small detail - making moves to tackle a life long eating disorder has been quite helpful in improving running times too. Anyway, here are some June highlights! PS turns out “happy birthday Mel” looks a lot like “happy birthday me!” When requesting a custom cake.

It's the time of year where you get crushed by humidity, but luckily I've got some great training partners to push me during the early morning runs. 3k|2k|1k|8x200 with Max & Karim Cutdown was slightly derailed by my lack of heat adaption this early in the season, but felt crisp on the 200s. Missing Blake this week, but the crew has been putting in the work at 5am for the last few months.
