Some things never go out of style. Palm Springs is one of them. A vintage convertible. A fabulous pool. A cocktail before noon. And enough midcentury glamour to make the 1960s jealous. Modernism Week has arrived, and Destination PSP is bringing the look, the lifestyle, and a little something to take home. Retro looks good on you. The new Mod Shirt & Swim collection is available in-store and online starting October 20th. #DestinationPSP #ModernismWeek #PalmSprings #MidcenturyModern Produced by @victory_creative_agency Directed by @matthewmitchell Cinematographer/editing by @evingrant Models: @gamzatus @chaseroback1 Bartender: @seth_manoloiu554 Location: @azureskyhotelps All fashion: @destinationpsp Special thanks to @palmspringsstay

This week, I built the 2 smaller Palm Springs houses and Saguaro Hotel sets that go with the larger Palm Springs midcentury house set that I completed last December. I love them! Not sure if it’s getting to be too cluttered because I’m running out of places to display my sets! ##midcenturyhouses #palmsprings #midcenturybutterfly #butterflyhouse saugarohotel

EXCITING times as we offer this Sneak Peek at Branding & Design Project #90 - my latest Palm Springs Vacation Rental - a Retro themed homage to Midcentury Modern Jetset Travel. “Jetset” was a phrase coined in the 1950s by journalist Igor Cassini to describe the exclusive class of people rich enough to take advantage of the new, fast commercial jet airplanes. The original Jetsetters were a glamorous mix of celebrities, aristocrats, socialites & fashion icons who travelled the globe - between hot spots like Palm Springs, St. Tropez, the French Riviera & Acapulco for leisure, luxury, and exclusive social events. Some of the most notable Jetsetters include:Aristotle Onassis, Grace Kelly & Prince Rainier, the Kennedy Family,.Oleg Cassini and Brigitte Bardot. Think Vintage Pan Am and TWA during the days when the affluent and simple folk alike dressed to the nines for travel. We have included classic celebrity photography like The Beatles on the Tarmac, Fashion Models stretched out in First Class and vintage travel posters announcing where to go and how to get there! We are just finishing the final touches on this Experiential Palm Springs Vacation Rental with professional photography scheduled for late next week. We will be taking Summer Bookings at introductory special pricing in the coming weeks! ➡️➡️➡️FOLLOW US & watch this space ➡️ 3 Huge Bedroom Suites - each w/ a Private Bath and direct pool access. 2 of the suites feature additional daybeds for flexible sleeping arrangements. ➡️ Fully enclosed Pool Yard w/ pergola-covered spa, lawn games & a custom-built outdoor dining pavilion ➡️ Cavernous open floor plan w/ high ceilings, walls of glass, and furnishings reminiscent of Mid Mod Airports back in the day! ➡️ We have done a clever conversion of the garage to create a 400 Sq Ft Game Room with ping pong, and a Video Game Console featuring dozens of your favorite titles including Ms. Pac-Man & Galaga. WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: “Famed Vacation Rental Design Guru @johnpatrickpalmsprings and his talented team of collaborators are set to release the next Instagram Darling - A Palm Springs Vacation Rental where it’s all about creating content while making memories.

Our new Mod Flowers Game Mat is here! And it’s designed to handle everything from a competitive round of mahjong (ModJong!) to a rainy-day puzzle with the kids. Our Creative Director, Tom Dolle, designed this mat with those signature Destination PSP motifs to bring our midcentury vibe right to your tabletop, and it's made to last. The bonded neoprene surface makes tiles and cards easy to pick up, while the non-slip rubber backing keeps everything in place and protects your table at the same time. At 31.5 inches square, it fits comfortably on a standard game table, and the dense material softens the sound of tiles, dice, and game pieces. Mahjong, cards, dominoes, puzzles, building sets: it handles all of it. It's also the perfect pairing for our Modjong™ Customized Mahjong Tiles Set, coming soon. When you're done, just wipe it clean and roll it into the carrying bag.

So, for my next Branding & Design Project - I am thinking an homage to airport travel over the years. We’ll set a Vintage vibe with huge, bold graphics - you know how I loves me some custom wallpaper! Maybe a nod to TWA back in the Jet Set Days. We can also stay current with a reference to New Yorks TWA Hotel? We will definitely do some storytelling of people we love - on the tarmac. Think Frank & Eva… Elvis… maybe The Fab Four during their Hey Jude phase. We touched on this theme back in 2020 when we created @runwaypalmsprings - and then again two years ago when we created @theclipperclub - but I think we will go even bigger and bolder this time. Sending a heads up to @jeffrey.bernstein1 and @runitbytom - I will be popping in to @destinationpsp to pick up a few of those Pan Am inspired Palm Springs carry on bags. It won’t be the first time I have incorporated them into my design work Call to Arms to my Creative Collaborators @psfrancie @luckythewallpaperguy @the_overdressed_artist … we got some work to do! Stay tuned. I think this may be a winning concept for Project #90 - a Fab Fab Palm Springs Vacation Rental with 3 huge Sleeping Quarters -each with a private en-suite bath. #palmspringsvacationrental #brandinganddesign #palmspringsstyle

A moment of appreciation for the years of research, experience, wisdom, and words pictured here. 📚 Couldn't have said it better than Councilmember and former @cityofps Mayor @jeffrey.bernstein1: "Yesterday Destination PSP hosted an event that shines a light on Palm Springs. They hosted a Local Authors & Artists (& Friends) Reception at the Destination PSP Mod Shop at the Hyatt Palm Springs as part of Modernism Week's CAMP (Community and Meeting Place). However, what's truly special is not only the incredible talent that we have here - artists, writers, photographers, historians, architects, etc. - but also, the depth of cultural history that is being documented and celebrated. Modernism Week is essential for not only that but also providing the venue for and highlighting the importance of those around the world to do the same. We live in a very special place that commands such attention and is so deserved of being documented. Again, thank you (and to @davidaleephotography for capturing this moment in time to beautifully) LAURA ACKERMAN-SHAW JOSH AGLE / SHAG NANCY BARON DAN CHAVKIN (Architectural Pottery - Ceramics fora Modern Landscape); CATHERINE CODY JIM COOK & CATHERINE GRAHAME ADELE CYGELMAN TOM DOLLE & JEFF STORK DON FLOOD TONY GEORGE JAKE GORST BOB GROSS JUSTIN GUNTHER SHELDON HARTE ALAN HESS STEVEN KEYLON SVEN KIRSTEN JANICE LYLE DARCY MACKAY CHRIS MENRAD PETER MORUZZI CHRISTOPHER RAWLINS MELISSA RICHE KELLY SEGRE JOHN STARK ADAM ŚTĚCH STEVE TREINEN DAVID WILLS"
