Davana has been deep in training mode this winter and spring without opportunities to race while she navigates the balance between her own goals and prioritizing her family. Sometimes certain seasons of life call for exactly that—letting your own goals sit back while you lift others around you up. She’s a champ at it all and continues to put in the work. As someone that loves to push herself, we’re proud of her drive and excited for the day she hits the roads again, ready to to take another swing at racing.

One of Davana’s father’s wishes was for her to run the Boston marathon. A former model and Figure Olympia champion, she had elite sport background and her father knew she had the ability to reach the pinnacle of another sport. She qualified three times, but as a mom of three, other priorities always trumped Boston. In 2020, she finally committed to running, and her dad cleared a section of the wall where her other bodybuilding and modeling medals stood, ready for her Boston medal. Covid hit, and that Boston opportunity was lost. Later that year, her father got Covid himself and passed away.
As races came back, another series of setbacks, including two knee surgeries, began impeding her comeback. Finally in 2022, Davana found her groove, and she began building to a late summer marathon that would fit inside the Boston qualifying window. She worked patiently and diligently through the grinding miles of summer, never wavering in her commitment to the goal. When race day arrived she was ready. Unfortunately, race day delivered unfavorably warm conditions, but Davana’s determination ruled the day. Despite the rising temps, she gritted out the final miles, clinging to her goal and moving farther and farther ahead of the rest of the competition. Davana was the first woman across the line that day, finishing in 3:10. Twelve days from now she’ll toe the line in Boston, finally fulfilling her father’s wish. What a glorious moment and a time I’ll never forget...
Something that I remember so fondly is the comradery we had back stage together whether it was the Olympia or any Pro show, we fed each other, we drank little tiny bottles of wine together, we glued each other’s suits on... teammates somehow 🙏🏼♥️

Tribute To Multiple IFBB Professional League Champion Jenny Lynn-Powell
.
It’s always sad when a former NPC or IFBB Professional League athlete passes away and even more so when it is before their time and they are a highly decorated 2-Time IFBB Figure Olympia Champion, 3-Time IFBB Figure International Champion and 2-Time champion of my own IFBB Pittsburgh Pro Figure.
.
What many people do not know is that Jenny Lynn @jennylynnfitness was the inspiration for us to create FIGURE. Jenny earned her IFBB Pro qualification winning the Overall 2001 NPC USA Fitness Championships! How that came about is we had many NPC and IFBB Pro Fitness athlete’s who scored great in the physique round but truly did not have the skill set to perform a good Fitness Routine. Jenny Lynn was one of them and spoke about it herself and to our officials.

After much discussion we created the Figure division for the NPC and IFBB Professional League and Jenny went on to win the Very First IFBB Professional League contest, the 2003 IFBB Figure International at the Arnold Sports Festival! The rest as they say, is history.

Thank You Jenny Lynn-Powell for being a catalyst for the sport and all Figure athletes owe you a debt of gratitude. I personally and the organizations send our heartfelt condolences to your family and friends.

‼️Race recap! Still riding the high after @grandmasmarathon yesterday. 🏃🏼‍♀️ This weekend exceeded my expectations in so many ways. Here’s a recap, if anyone is interested:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pre-Race: I rode the bus to the start line, warmed up, and was anxiously waiting while I shockingly ran into @liketheseason27 and @ashcas_runsthings. It was great to meet them IRL for the first time and they literally made my morning! 😊 After the National Anthem, there was a jet flyover and it was incredible. This brought tears to me eyes, literally.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Miles 1-6: It was sunnier & slightly warmer than expected, but I settled in and gave myself a speed limit. I didn’t want a repeat of @hollandhavenmarathon where I went out too fast and paid for it in the second half of the race. 😬 I told Ben I didn’t expect to see him in the first half. But shockingly around mile 6, I saw him & two of my amazing friends, @haltaufderheid12 & @khockers!! They drove all the way from Green Bay, WI to surprise me & spectate the race. I legit thought I was seeing things!! After a quick hug, I was off. This gave me quite a boost!

Miles 7-13: I reminded myself to continue to run with my head and to run smart. I still felt great and fueling was on point. It started to get cloudy which was much appreciated, and I soaked up the amazing views of Lake Superior. 🌊 Ben, Allison, and Kevin found me again and words can’t express how much this meant to me!

While I cannot take part in Global Running Day physically this year, that won’t stop me from celebrating everything that this sport has given to me over the years. ⁣
⁣
The things it has taught me about myself...how hard I could push my body, going beyond what I ever thought it could possibly do. The disappointments it has made me face and then learned to overcome them. ⁣
⁣
The places it has taken me. The miles I’ve run in so many new places from coast to coast and abroad. To the places I will be able to explore in the future. ⁣
⁣
But most importantly, the people. The village I have at home that helps watch my kids and my dog so I can spend hours training or while away on trips for days chasing my goals. The people I have met and shared so many miles with, and tears of joy and happiness and sadness. The people who lift me up and help me to believe. ⁣
⁣
I’m grateful for everything running has done to change my life for the better and has helped me to become the person I am today. ⁣
