In Remembrance of Tyrone 🕊️ @towaterfront42k

This marathon is dedicated to a special person, a friend, and a leader in our community. Someone who made everyone around him better and inspired others to chase their goals. Someone who never left people behind, always lifting those at the back and helping them find their way to the front to cross that finish line.

Tyrone, this marathon is for you. You were in my thoughts from start to finish. We did it man. I miss you and think about you every day, my friend.

Until we meet again, I’ll carry your memory… every mile, every marathon, every finish line.

We are all connected.

I was reflecting on the good people network with @rookiedivision at the @towaterfront42k today, how it brought me to running with @johnlagger123, to being cheered on by my runner brother @avinmarv in this clip:

My connection to @athleticsont as the host of the @athletics_ontario_running podcast led me to the work of @fewer.roads @ahh.noke @dre.run

At their Fewr Roads event in early 2025, I met @dudeytsang who was photographing the adventure

That led me to @avinmarv and the beautiful people of @running__waters @stouffvilleruns @ajaxwannabes

Which led me to the inspirational work of @everydayfit.bernard

Which led me to doubling-down on that relationship with my runner brothers through our documentary, Outrun the Darkness (check out the link in bio for our Hamilton and Uxbridge screenings!)

And because of that connection, when Tyrone was lost to the world, I contributed how I knew to, with my soles and my soul in writing an article for @irunnation about him and the mantra of "Heroes Make Heroes"

All of that meaning that when I towed the start line with Marv and was reintroduced to John Virgo who was running for Ty...

We are all connected. Cherish those good connections. Pay attention to the magic of the universe that are proof of these connections. Because to paraphrase an Indigenous proverb, if we feed the good wolf, the good connections, then the bad wolf will never win.

Less than 12 hours until my 44th in person race, 8th race this year, and 11th half marathon!

Last year I had a blast pacing Steven but tomorrow we're going to race for a new personal record. Going to start with pacer @torontosrunningrealtor (1h40h) and see if I can leave him on the back half of the race. Perfect cool/cold racing conditions 😮‍💨🥶

Time goal: 1h35 but anything below 1h40 I'll take!

My first ever race was @towaterfront42k coming out of the pandemic. It's crazy how the journey started here and I tell everyone this is my favourite race in 🇨🇦 first ever marathon and current best as well. Excited to train for marathon se7en 🔜

Almost there.

So many people to thank leading into our documentary premiere at @towaterfront42k, but to my runner brothers who ran beside me, helping bring Outrun the Darkness to life, helping bring me to life: I appreciate each of you @avinmarv @everydayfit.bernard @kosukemedia @dudeytsang

And in the words of Bernard, who was truer to his word than I think he even realized at the time: I might be crazy, but y'all followed me into battle. I will never forget that.
