I participated in the 5/15k Farm Run this evening and I ran my best race ever. I finished fourth and won an age group and door prize, but what I'm most happy with is my time. Never have I ran 15k in just over an hour (1 hour 1 minute and a few seconds). I have a hard enough time running 14k in an hour.
The race consisted of 3x5k loops on the grounds of the Experimental Farm. There was a short "trail" section, with most of the course being run on roads and bike paths. The temperature was cool and there was a breeze. If this race had of taken place a few days earlier, I don't think I would have survived the heat.
You can either come away from a race thinking it got the best of you or you got the best of it. Either feeling can help you figure out what you need to improve or show you how you improved. I come away feeling like I'm improving my performance and this is a huge boost to my confidence.
I'll sleep well tonight.

This Canada Day 10k had more ups and downs than I expected. Who knew there was something other than flat to run in Ottawa? I did well despite working the last 5 days. So no complaints. Another medal for the collection and a well earned rest for the remainder of the day.
Happy Canada Day everyone.
