When we come together, amazing things happen. We were able to come together as an Indigenous team, both brothers and sisters. We came together with our Unity Run family to support #represenationmatters on the trail for BIPOC runners. We came together to celebrate the human body and spirit of doing more, accomplishing the unthinkable and showcasing our resilience. @native_women_running brought a 8 person team and many crew members to this epic desert ultra race. It was nothing short of phenomenal.

I have to say before the race even happened I was blown away by the amount of people that wanted to volunteer to crew and pace. The support was overwhelming. I actually had to make a chart to get organized. Imagine being in the place of such great gratitude before even hitting the race.

The good times just kept rolling for us. The race crew welcomed us with open arms and gave us a home right by our Unity Run family. The ultra trail is oftentimes shared by our BIPOC community as “being the only” and that was not the case for this race. How powerful it was that the finish and start was lined with Native/Indigenous, Latino and Black runners and team members.

I am beyond proud of our Native Runners! They did amazing! Congrats to Al, Jo, Scott, Sergio, Anita, Laura, Onalee and Shina your strength and confidence was inspiring. I have so many stories of their amazing perseverance. Each runner fought for every mile. Thank you for running with such heart and being a great example of “I’m my ancestors' wildest dreams.” I am honored to know and share this past weekend with you.

And to the @nativewomenrunning crew and pacers, thank you so much. This race went so well for our runners because of you. So proud of us! This has to be the biggest crew job I've had and it was so exciting that sleep was hard to find. It almost made me want to run, almost. So proud of our pacers Val, Missy, Wynonna, Michelle, Cina, and Jonah. Pacers are a gift to runners in those deep miles where the next steps are beyond exhausting. Every pacer did a twenty mile loop. Everyone was invaluable. Ahe'hee.

The NWR team did over 540 miles collectively (runners and pacers). 🤯 Amazing! My heros!!

Two years ago we met as a team for the first time. One runner + 4 in the support crew. Our runner @hozhorunner4 completed 100K (62mi) in less than 24 hrs, finishing before sunrise #JavelinaJundred2021

One year later the crew reunited and grew to support the @native_women_running team. There were so many people visiting the NWR team tent that it felt like a family reunion #javelinajundred2022

In 2023 we’re back with the Native Women Running team! This time I will be one of the runners (🤞🏽🤞🏽). Thank you Verna for your support! I’m grateful for our friendship and extended running family.

Please follow our adventure the weekend of October 28-29!

@JavelinaJundred here we come…
