Natalie cruising down the trails on day 2 of Chamonix Run Weekends.

We jogged the singletrack section, walked the steeper bits and stopped whenever the views deserved it. Nobody was pushing the pace, as always we stuck together.

Most of the day was spent chatting, laughing and getting to know the group. Then into a mountain refuge for a big dinner and a sit-down. Tired legs, good company, and plans to do it all again tomorrow.

To the laughs, the miles, the mountains, the views, the early starts and the very late finishes. To the tired legs, questionable weather, ridiculous conversations, shared snacks, pints, pastries, airports, and those moments when someone stops, looks around and says, “This is bloody brilliant, we are so lucky.”

@runweekends JOIN ME!!! (link in bio)

To the people who arrived as strangers and left as friends. To the person who thought they’d be the slowest, the person who hadn’t run that far before, and the person who came alone wondering whether they’d fit in.

To everyone who waited at the top of a hill, doubled back, carried a bag, shared some food, made somebody laugh or simply said, “You’ve got this.”

Thank you. It’s been a mad, busy, beautiful summer. ❤️ 🏃‍♀️ 🗺️

We’ve covered a lot of miles, but I’m increasingly convinced the miles are the least important part. Run Weekends has always been about using running as an excuse to go somewhere, see something and meet people you probably would never have met otherwise.

It’s about eating together, running together, laughing together, struggling a little together and standing somewhere beautiful together.

Running strips away the usual nonsense. Nobody cares what you do for work when you’re halfway up a mountain in the rain. Nobody cares about your pace when you’re around a table at the end of the day laughing about something that happened six hours earlier.

So thank you to everyone who joined us this summer, and to our team, guides, sponsors, partners, locals, friends and family who make it possible. 🙏🏼

Move your body. Go somewhere new. Eat good food. Laugh a lot. Talk to strangers. Stay outside a little longer. Don’t worry too much about how fast you get there.

Special thanks to:

Here’s to the miles, but mostly, here’s to the people. ❤️

I’M CHANGING SHOES.

After years and thousands of miles in the Brooks Adrenaline GTS, I’ve decided it’s time for something different.

They’ve been around the world with me, through training blocks, adventures, races and a frankly ridiculous number of miles.

But it’s time. I’m leaving Brooks…For… well, a different Brooks shoe. 😂

Rather than relying on one shoe for almost everything, I’m changing things up and choosing two: one for the road and one for the trails. Yes I know that’s normal, but honestly the Adrenaline’s were perfect for both 80% of the time… now a change.

🏃 ROAD: GHOST AMP

This is my new road shoe.

It feels lighter, faster and more responsive than what I’ve been used to, while still having enough cushioning and comfort to pile the everyday miles into.

There’s a noticeable bit of pop when you push the pace, but it doesn’t feel like an aggressive race shoe. It sits nicely in that middle ground where I can head out for an easy run, a long run or something considerably quicker without thinking too much about it.

Basically: comfortable, quick and fun.

⛰️ TRAIL: CASCADIA ELITE

Now this thing… I really love this shoe.

I’ve worn a lot of trail shoes over the years, but this immediately felt different.

It’s incredibly light and springy underfoot, but somehow still feels solid and reassuring when the terrain gets rough. Loads of cushioning, loads of grip and it feels genuinely FAST.

Underneath there’s DNA GOLD cushioning, a carbon-infused propulsion plate and Vibram Megagrip, essentially lots of clever stuff designed to help you move quickly over proper trail terrain.

So, after all these years, I’m officially changing my shoes.

Sorry, Adrenaline. We had a good run.

Road: Ghost Amp.
Trail: Cascadia Elite.

My new two-shoe setup.

And I reckon it might be sticking around for a while. 👌

If you haven’t tried either of these I’d give them a go.

IF YOU TRAVEL A LOT, READ THIS 🌍

If you like adventure, travel regularly, run in far-flung places, hike mountains, disappear off the beaten track or generally have a habit of doing things that make normal travel seem boring then this info might be helpful.

Travel insurance is far from sexy, but when something goes wrong, having the right policy could make a massive difference to your life.

So, here’s a little about the insurance partner we use and trust, and, increasingly, the one our runners are choosing when they join us on Run Weekends adventures around the world.

When you’re running and exploring all over the world, particularly in the mountains, on remote trails and far from the beaten track, having the right insurance matters considerably more than simply having insurance.

We spent time looking for a provider that actually understood that world. True Traveller stood out.

They’re built for travellers and adventurers, and depending on the policy and Activity Pack you choose, they can cover a pretty extraordinary range of activities:

🏃 Running and marathons
🏃‍♀️ Ultramarathons, including distances up to 250km with the appropriate cover
🥾 Trekking and hiking
⛰️ High-altitude trekking
🧗 Rock climbing and mountaineering
🚵 Mountain biking
🤿 Scuba diving
🏄 Surfing and watersports
❄️ Winter sports
🚁 Medically necessary helicopter rescue with applicable trekking cover
🏥 Emergency medical treatment and repatriation

Their standard Traveller Activity Pack includes 92 activities, and if your adventures get a little more adventurous, there are Adventure, Extreme and Ultimate packs that extend what you’re covered to do. That’s the bit we really like.

Head to the True Traveller website, enter your trip details and get a quote. Check the activities you’ll be doing, add the appropriate Activity Pack or extras, then read the policy wording carefully before purchasing to make sure you’re properly covered.

A lot of our @runweekends guests now use @truetravellerinsurance when joining us around the world, and we’ll be working with them for the foreseeable future.

As some of you may know, I stopped drinking alcohol nearly 10 years ago. Before running took over my life, I worked in finance, and, unsurprisingly, it was a fairly booze-heavy world.

These days, life looks rather different. Running has taken me all over the world, and now, through @runweekends I get to host groups of brilliant people in some pretty special places.

And wherever we are, there’s a familiar rhythm to the days.

They start with a run. Always involve heaps of good food. Theres usually a mountain, plenty of laughs, stunning trails and lots of misadventure somewhere in the middle. And, more often than not they end with everyone sitting around with a beer by a pool, on the edge of a lake, outside a mountain hut, or watching the sun disappear somewhere far from home.

As a non-drinker, I’ve always loved that ritual. I just don’t want the alcohol that comes with it.

And increasingly, neither do lots of the people travelling with us. They want to enjoy a beer at the end of a brilliant day, but they also want to wake up the following morning, pull their running gear back on and feel good enough to do it all again.

Fun fact: did you know that 0.5% booze has less alcohol than a banana 🍌 I know right! Eat enough bananas and you’ll be hammered (or not).

Which is where Proper Job 0.5% has fitted in rather perfectly.

We’ve now been working with @st_austell_brewery for a year, and they’ve kept us very well supplied with 0.5% Proper Jobs along the way.

So this is a thank you for the partnership and, of course, for the beer. But it’s also a particular nod of appreciation to Matt and the team at St Austell Brewery. They’ve supported us because they genuinely like what we’re doing. They believe in getting outside, bringing people together and enabling good adventure, without necessarily needing the hangover afterwards.

That feels like a pretty good fit to me.

Thanks folks. Here’s to plenty more miles, mountains, adventures and beer. 🍻🏃

More trails. More views. More reasons to keep running. 🌲🏃‍♀️🏃

We’re proud to be the official insurance partner of @runweekends who know exactly how to turn a run into a proper adventure. In the last few months the team have been to Mongolia, Chamonix, Iceland and Kyrgyzstan and there are many more trips to come!

Think forest trails, mountain paths, big views, good company and that unbeatable feeling of finishing somewhere you’d never have reached by road.

This is the kind of running we can get behind.

Run Weekends Camino - Day 3 (Part 2)

Refreshed after breakfast we headed out of Fisterra towards Muxia for our final day on the trails. It was hot. Like 35 degrees hot.

This was a day where we made the most of every little rest stop - fruit from a free pilgrim commune, ice cold cans of coke by the beach, moments of shade wherever we could find them. And little by little, we found ourselves running out of trail.

With a local festival taking place, arriving in our finish town of Muxia felt like a real celebration of our time together. We said our goodbyes over our final dinner, drinks & a firework display, before one last sunrise dip in the Atlantic.

It continues to be a genuine privilege to be able to help people make lifelong memories and call it work.

Until next time, Buen Camino ❤️

Run Weekends Camino - Day 3 (Part 1)

The optional bit. With 90km in the legs and another 30km planned for today, you might think there is an obvious 2-letter answer when you offer people the choice to run an additional 7km (half uphill in the dark) before breakfast.

But watching the sunrise from the lighthouse is one of those moments that will stick with us all forever.

Worth every step.

Run Weekends Camino - Day 2

With the weather warming up, our second day of running included 40km on rolling gravel trails through the trees to the coastal town of Fisterre - “The end of the world”!

This is the sort of day that encapsulates the Run Weekends philosophy. Great company, stunning views, ice creams by the beach, a stop to swim in the Atlantic, and hilltop restaurant to watch the sun fall into the sea.

Run Weekends Camino - Day 1

I’ve worked with @runweekends for over a year now, which means I’m now getting to return to trips that I have done before. Different people, a different role, but the same intangible energy in Santiago de Compostela.

Day 1 took us 50km from Santiago to a traditional Albergue (pilgrim’s hostel), through small villages and rural farm trails.

One of my favourite things about the first run on any trip is seeing the nerves dissipate - 50km is a long run for almost anyone, but as the realisation sets in that we do ACTUALLY run at a social pace that works for the whole group, and stop regularly for the food/drink/views, the group settles and the laughter starts to flow freely.
