Feeling so grateful for the opportunity to run & make friends on this platform 🩵

I was so blessed today to be able to run faster than I have in months. God’s hand played into me running a PR today without pain (NO DOUBT IN MY MIND) for sure 🩵

Going into this race I had zero expectations but I just listened to my body and pushed when I felt like I could🙃

Is it just me (and my algorithm) or does everyone seem to be training for a marathon, triathlon, or ultra these days.

Because honestly, (as I sip on a margaritaI) I think that’s a good thing.

I’ve heard people ask, “How do they have time for that?”
Fair question. Heck, I think it myself!

But years ago, people spent hours at the bar every week. We organized our schedules around “must-see TV.”
Entire evenings disappeared sitting on the couch, flipping channels, watching whatever happened to be on.

Today, some of those same hours are being spent running trails, riding bikes, swimming laps, lifting weights, and chasing finish lines.
Is there some obsession involved? Probably. But there may be something deeper happening.

A marathon, triathlon, or ultra isn’t just exercise. For many people, it’s community, challenge, adventure, discipline, growth, and purpose all rolled into one.
In a world (now) where many jobs feel less connected to achievement and many communities feel less connected than they once did, endurance sports provide something powerful: a meaningful challenge that requires commitment. And while social media can make it seem like everyone is training for an event, what you’re often seeing is people choosing to invest their time differently.

No, not everyone is wealthy. Not everyone is avoiding work. Trust me, these people are hardly lazy!
Many are simply optimizing for something beyond a paycheck.
The older I get, the more I believe one of life’s greatest luxuries is having the freedom to spend time doing things that make you feel alive.
For some, that’s building a business. For others, it’s playing with their kids.
For me, and others, it’s riding a bike up & down the coast, running a mountain trail, or training for an event that most people think is crazy.

The real question isn’t whether the time investment is worth it.
The question is: What are you optimizing your life for?

Because the person running at 5 a.m. or riding their bike for four hours on a Saturday may not be obsessed.
They may simply be focused on something that brings them joy.
Perhaps more people should be as obsessed?

We’re doing it!!!! ➡️ We DID that!!!🥳🎉This video gives me all the feels…mostly just pure JOY!! I didn’t do that alone! God gave me the ability to do that and with so much support from my amazing family and friends! We did it together! I’m so grateful for this experience! This weekend I may have ran the fastest 10K in the U.S. for my age group (55–59).

That’s a fun headline. But what matters more is this: it has come during a season of rebuilding.
I’m in a new chapter. I’ve had shifts in relationships. And a career recalibration. Basically, I’ve been starting over in more than one area of life.

It would’ve been easier to stay comfortable. To not rock the boat. To accept “good enough.” But staying put drains my edge. My ambition. The belief in what’s still possible.

Consistency gave me that race result. But courage gives me the life around it.

If you’re feeling stuck, in a relationship, in your work, in a version of yourself that doesn’t quite fit anymore, know this:
You’re not too old. You’re not too late. And you’re not crazy for wanting more ALIGNMENT (my theme for the year).

You don’t have to blow up your life. But you do have to be honest about what’s calling you forward.

The race wasn’t won on race day. It was won in quiet preparation.

Same goes for your next chapter. And you’re closer than you think.
