Perhaps there comes a time when you have to know when to let go of the artist within you.

When making art stops being a way of surviving the wound and becomes a way of keeping it alive.

The hardest thing to survive isn’t the fall.

It’s the story waiting for us when we wake.

I once shot a quiet wish into the universe.
Somehow it returned to me
as a constellation of women
who held me through my becoming. ✨

✨ Hug the Darkness ✨

This Diwali
may we light the kind of flame
that doesn’t blind the dark
but holds it with love.

Feeling accomplished today, not because of anything I did, but because of what my children created. My daughter @ivanagossain’s artwork shines in her first book “The Subtext”, my 10-year-old son wrote and sang his first song about giving hope, and I added a poem to the mix, in the spirit of reminding us that there is a place for everyone in this world and it’s okay to be just as you are.

Madness is daring to dream of a world different from the one that exists, and maybe that’s what art really is. A kind of madness that carries hope, meaning, and humanity forward.

I once thought legacy was something I had to build alone, but now I know, it doesn’t get better than teaching another little human to keep their humanity alive through art. ❤️

And in that moment, I thought to myself: the world will know these children are mine. How is that for a legacy?

In their own ways, and with age-appropriate innocence, they have both stripped humanity down to its bare bones. What more could I possibly ask for?

I will always be more because of them.

Artist credit goes to my very own @ivanagossain

REMEMBER MY NAME
......................................
K. C. Das
..............
In an icy cold day,
When loneliness damn,
Devours your moments gay,
Remember my name.

When black clouds paint your sky,
Make your hope a game,
Your fervent desires cry,
Remember my name.

If those days call you back,
Love springs like a flame,
Friends and foes your heart shake,
Remember my name.

When you're quiet, alone,
Memories tears claim,
Blows you hard the unknown,
Remember my name.

Now you needn't love me,
That dream isn't a gem,
But, if, peaceful days flee,
Remember my name.

Far away those days are
A strange face I am,
If shadows past you stir,
Remember my name.

Becoming isn’t beautiful. It’s messy, quiet, and full of letting go. You lose people. Versions of yourself. Illusions. You walk the line between grief and growth, between holding on and healing. And some days, it feels like falling, not flying, but still, you go on.

THE PRESENT SUN'S TOO WEAK , TOO OLD
..........................................................................
K. C. Das
................

Under the sky pregnant with hope,
In this very rose petal dawn,
I sit solitary and grope
A dulcet dream of a new sun.

The present sun's too weak too old,
No more can he rise well and burn,
Spread slowly a strange dark and cold,
I'm forced to dream a strong new sun.

These flowers will fade, this sun go,
Something spiteful this earth will earn,
To the ruthless dark should I bow ?
No. I sit to dream a new sun.

I've flesh, I've blood, I am a man,
A true fighter, never undone,
Let gloomy waves do what it can,
I am here to dream a new sun.
