From Light to Colour 🌟 Back in the autumn, we celebrated our second Diwali in Rushmoor, in partnership with @nutkhut.uk and @rushmoorcouncil. Together we made lanterns, explored the meaning of Diwali in the community, and took part in a fantastic parade filled with music, dancing, and creativity. As we look ahead to Holi, the festival of colours, tomorrow on 4 March, we're excited to once again celebrate joy, renewal, and the arrival of spring. Diwali and Holi may be months apart, but they share the same spirit: community, colour, creativity, and hope. Here's a look back at the vibrant Diwali celebrations we captured in Rushmoor... With thanks to @reddogproductionhouse for capturing the joy and vibrance of the project.

Artswork is a safe place for everyone. We know that right now, there are people, including young people who aren’t sure where will be safe for them. We want to reassure every person – including trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming and intersex young people - that attends one of our events or applies for our programmes, that we will do everything in our power to make sure they will feel safe, included, valued and welcome. We believe that all young people are valid and deserve to live in an empathetic world: this always has been and always will be our position. Creativity and culture are better when everyone is included, and we are committed to challenging all discrimination in the work that we do. We will continue to champion this message and make sure everyone always feels safe and respected when working with us.

Same us, whole new look. We’ve been working away behind the scenes to bring you a completely new website and brand which reflects who we are now as a charity and where we’re going. We’re thrilled to finally be able to share this with you. A lot has changed for us in the past couple of years and we wanted our website and brand to reflect this shift in our work. We now work directly with young people, empowering them to lead change through creativity – for themselves, their communities and the world.   You’ll see our new website and brand is fun, playful and creative but accessible to everyone who wants and needs to use it. We always loved our logo, and you’ll see it’s not too different to what it once was, just a little bit simpler. A huge thank you to KIND @madebykind for working with us on this project and making this all come to life. We love our new look, and we hope you do too. Let us know what you think in the comments. Our new logo in the top left which reads ‘artswork’ with a big circle in the middle and small ones around the side. The words ‘Creativity for Change’ are written below.

We are working with young people in their local communities, using creativity to make positive change. This past year, young people across the South East have created murals, decorated community spaces, put on exhibitions, delivered festivals, created music, dance and film, built gardens and eco-friendly bike sheds and so much more. 2025 is shaping up to be just as inspiring. We are continuing to work with young people on creative projects, with youth voice at the heart of them. Nature and the environment is one of the topics that is important to young people in the South and is shaping a few of our project next year. - To encourage engagement around the environment, in Arun we’re working with multiple schools and @universityofchichester to create a collection of films focusing on environmental themes. One of the films will be based around dance and another about miniature worlds (all filmed on a miniature camera). - To develop the natural habitats in the sea, in Gosport, school children are creating their own vertipools to be placed in the sea (vertipools are artificial rock pools that exist to create new wildlife habitats for marine life). - A new public artwork is being created in Dover for the accessible garden at St Radigunds community centre – they’re even looking at making a ‘concrete’ type material out of mushrooms to ensure use of biomaterials in this project. - Young people on the Isle of Wight are creating calm and beautiful spaces inspired by nature for both the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service reception area, and the children’s cell in Newport Police Station. The cell is where children are held when they are arrested and the planned nature mural on the ceiling is being designed to calm and distract children in a difficult environment. We’re looking forward to seeing how these fantastic projects develop in 2025, but for now, it’s time to rest. The Artswork office will be closed between 24 December and 2 January. Wishing you all a joyful and restful festive break. #CreativityForChange #YouthEmpowerment #Artswork #YouthVoice #YouthLeadership #YouthWork Young people sat down drawing images of people.

We are thrilled that the inspiring work our Young Cultural Changemakers have achieved in the first year of the programme has been acknowledged by the @cypnow – we have been shortlisted for The Youth Volunteering and Social Action Award. Working across 5 locations identified as Priority Places by @aceagrams , young changemakers in Arun, Dover, Slough, the New Forest and the Isle of Wight, are empowered to lead on significant creative projects in their local area. The programme responds to conversations with young people, where they have articulated their hopes, dreams and what they’d like to change about where they live. It then connects them with artists to explore and communicate ideas, as well as the opportunity to undertake training and development opportunities that support their futures. They are then given funding that enables them to plan, organise and deliver creative youth-led projects that make a lasting difference in their communities. We look forward to celebrating their hard work as well as our own teams at the awards ceremony on Thursday 28 November. #ChildrenAndYoungPeopleNowAwards #YoungCulturalChangemaker #Artswork Picture of a young men and young women laughing with artswork logo in black and children’s and young people now awards logo

Hello and welcome to those who are new to our page, and to those that have been here with us a while. We thought we’d use this opportunity to tell you a little bit about who we are, and what we do. Who Are We? We are a UK-based creative arts charity that centres the voices of children and young people in everything we do. We actively listen to what young people want and need and work together to create positive change. Our projects focus on building pathways into creative careers, making a difference in local communities, and providing a space for young people to use their voice and be heard. Now for an exciting social media update... We have created five new Instagram accounts that represent each of the five priority places we work in on our Activate Young Cultural Changemakers programme. The purpose of these accounts is to highlight the important work that is happening in each area. There will be a particular focus on upcoming events, projects and opportunities for local children and young people, as well as opportunities for artists/organisations to get involved. If you live or work within one of these areas, please give the account a follow as we will be sharing regularly what we’ve been up to.
