Join us for a morning of drawing at the historic Rustenberg Wine Estate on Saturday, 31 October!

This weekend coincides with Rustenberg's beautiful Open Garden, giving us a rare opportunity to sketch their famous, spectacular English style-gardens, the heritage Cape Dutch architecture, and the surrounding panoramic mountain views.

Please note that there is a R50 for the Open Garden (payable at the gate), which goes towards charity.

Meet at 10:00 and our traditional sketch throwdown will be at 13:00.

See you there!

Look II

We come from dust, and to dust we return. Yet somewhere between the beginning and the end, we become.

Shaped by the earth beneath our feet, carried by the breath within us, and transformed by every step along the way. There is beauty in what is unfinished, freedom in what is imperfect, and divinity in remembering where we come from.

The walk is not always easy. Some paths are dry, some seasons leave us weathered, and some moments ask us to stand still long enough to see how far we have come.

But even in the dust, there is purpose. Even in the ordinary, there is something sacred.

Dust & Divinity - Look II.
Grounded in the earth. Becoming in His light.

#cretivedirector #photography #fashiondesigner A model stands barefoot on a chair draped in flowing turquoise fabric, wearing a white textured corset top and relaxed linen trousers, with a woven bag hanging at her side. Behind her, a herd of cattle grazes beneath the Stellenbosch mountains, surrounded by green trees and sunlit grass. The contrast between the earthy landscape, soft white garments and vivid blue fabric reflects Dust & Divinity — a collection exploring our beginnings in dust, the beauty of creation, and the transformation that takes place along life’s walk with God.

On Thursday, 20 August, we hosted a special tasting at Waterford Estate with winemakers and viticulturists from Waterford, Rustenberg and Hartenberg, in collaboration with Return on Ecology.

Each producer brought two wines made from the same cultivar and vineyard block: one farmed using regenerative practices and one without. Through a blind tasting, we explored aroma, flavour, intensity and texture, while sharing observations from the vineyards.

The day was less about finding definitive answers and more about staying curious. At Waterford, regenerative farming is about bringing more life into the vineyard through cover crops that nurture and protect the soil, and our Dexter cattle grazing between the vines and returning nutrients to the land.

As soil scientist Bennie Diedericks reminded us: “Everything is connected.” We know there is science behind these complex living systems, even if we cannot yet measure every interaction. Perhaps that is part of the magic, the complexity of an ecosystem working as a whole, rather than as a collection of separate parts.

The day was a reminder that regenerative farming is a journey of observation, experimentation and learning.
