Yesterday evening's panel @cbttmuseum (The quotations are not precise, a gist)

Such rich research, discussions and food for thought.
What stood out for me, because of my own practice and work, is how much of Mas and the creative work is guided by intuition. In this ritual space of the Mas, the idea of sadhana (my importation here) was emphasized in Amy Li Baksh's response to one question: this idea of caring for even after the carnival, of a continuous process.

Much more to write as I follow the trajectory of my days, thoughts and feelings.

But the day is fresh and it's my coffee hour. I shall mull over and write.

Thank you to all the panelists for sharing their work with us.

A happy weekend to all!

What an unforgettable closing to the Black Consciousness Festival 2025. The final final screening of Walter Rodney: What They Don’t Want You to Know brought a full house, deep insights, and an audience whose engagement made the conversation truly powerful.

Thank you to our conversation participants, Dr Charissa Granger, Ruth Osman and Tyker Giselle for their brilliance, and to everyone who showed up, leaned in, and contributed to this transformative dialogue. 🖤🔥

Excerpt: "Liquid Bodies" 2023 (c) Sharda Patasar
For The Royal Court Theatre, UK, Writing for Performance programme.
Venue: Edna Manley College Visual and Performing Arts, Jamaica

Script: Sharda Patasar
Music written and composed by: Sharda Patasar
Technical production: Joanna Hussain

The universe keeps pushing. The ocean churns and tumbles.
I think of Arjuna and the "bird's eye" test.

2023
The Royal Court Theatre, UK
Writing for Performance programme. Supported by the British Council.

Presented the final work in Jamaica, a space that felt like home. The work resonated there.

As I sat, mostly alone in the auditorium, looking at the final script being rehearsed, I reached into the energy of the space to bring forth more.

2025
Caribbean Culture Fund

I chose Jamaica as the collaborative site for my @caribbeanculturefund project.

The project's aim: to open space for more collaboration among Caribbean musicians with a focus on young female musicians.

OCTOBER 2025:
Rex Nettleford Arts Conference 2025, Edna Manley College, Jamaica

I return to speak on a panel where I get to share thoughts from current research. Drawing on Classical Indian music theory/philosophical perspective I explore some concepts and their relevance to the region's popular music.

Here's to the people who support the work and to #Jamaica for the energy and the jumbie!

Looking forward to what promises to be an exciting conversation with fellow panelists @Kela NnarkaFrancis and @ruth osman

"A thought-leader shape-shifting through the chaos of a planet in a constant state of ‘kilketay’, Arielle uses poetry, music, and softness as medicine for Atlantic peoples, reminding us of who we really are when all the labels dissolve, one breath at a time."
