World Bee Day reminds us how essential bees are to our food systems, ecosystems, and everyday lives. These tiny pollinators support nearly a third of the world’s crops, yet their populations continue to decline. It’s a day to celebrate them, protect them, and recognize just how much the world depends on their buzz.

For Women’s History Month, the SQAF Book Club is honoring the women who inspire us, challenge us, and remind us why stories matter.

Here are a few we are featuring today:

📚 @bookstasamm - I chose Kristin Hannah because she brings the stories of strong, resilient women throughout history to life so beautifully.

⚕ @rva_reader - Karen Winn’s Our Little World was the first time since The Babysitters Club I’d seen Type 1 diabetes in fiction. Her portrayal felt accurate and grounded, and as someone who’s lived with Type 1 for 30+ years, I appreciated seeing it acknowledged.

🗣️ @Jammers_epilogues - I chose Julia Whelan because she shows how powerful storytelling can be beyond the page. Her voice brings stories to life across genres and proves a narrator can be just as impactful as the story itself.

📚 @jenniferk_reads - Kelley Armstrong is my favorite author and an incredible woman. She’s absolutely amazing! She writes so many of my favorite series and somehow still manages to publish 5 or 6 books a year. Wow!

🦴 @kaseysbookhoard - Mary Anning: In the 1800s, when women were shut out of scientific communities, she made groundbreaking fossil discoveries, including the first ichthyosaur skeleton at just 12 years old.

📚 @diehardbookworm - The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon tells the powerful story of Martha Ballard, a midwife and healer who fights injustice in her community.

⚖️ @paws.read.repeat - I chose RBG for her famous reminder that “women belong in all places where decisions are being made,” and for the lifelong impact she had on advancing gender equality.

☢️ @kayckay_bookreviews - I honor Marie Curie for her brilliance and barrier‑breaking legacy. As a two‑time Nobel Prize winner, she shaped modern radiation research in a time when women were typically shut out of science.

This is our list, but countless more women inspire, challenge, and carry us forward. We’re grateful for all of them.

🗂️ Welcome to my stop ✋🏻 on the tour for the fabulous Jen Morris’s next book in the Forbidden Fruit Street (Book 4) series. Interconnected stories in this series & I highly recommend you read them in order.

🗂️ Meet Iris. Misunderstood by her corporate father & when she lets her grades fall at college, she is forced to work at her father’s architectural firm, forever to be told she’s a failure.
Meet Aidan. Married to his work. Doing all he can to achieve the partnership at his firm. Meets a beautiful yet sad stranger in a bar drowning her sorrows in cupcakes.

🗂️ I loved the chemistry Jen created straight of the bat with these two characters. The push & pull of each their insecurities. The 18 years age gap, the pining for the bosses daughter, the desperate need for the promotion. The ADHD representation in this was treated with such care. I really appreciated that.
I don’t want to give too many spoilers away as it’s not out yet 🤭 but if you love a beautifully soft sweetheart of a FMC & a beautiful kind devoted, goes for what he wants🫦 MMC, then this is for you! Altho read all the others because you really should!
The friendships Iris develops with the other Fruit Street women was a great “sub”plot. Each of these 4 women have their own story in this series & their bond and support of each other is 👩🏻‍🍳 💋. Iris is very much an introvert & her self esteem is at zero & these women embraced her immediately!!
Aidan is such a big care bear! I think he is my favourite MMC is this series. Altho all the older gents in this series are 👌🏻 but I have developed a soft spot for Aidan.

🗂️ 4🌟 read for me. Jen knows how to write chemistry and the passion of n her novels & this was no exception.
This is very much for the mature reader 🌶️.
This one is out on the 24th February on Kindle unlimited
