We’ve had such an incredible month with Neena Jayarajan! ✨ She has so generously shared her knowledge and journey with us. From snippets of choreography from her guru, Menaka Thakkar, to insights into her own choreographic process. It has been such a meaningful month of learning and moving together. And we’re not done yet! We continue our Prep + Practice sessions this fall with the incredible Atri Nundy for October and November. 🔗 Link in bio to register or learn more!

🏵️ In last week's session, Neena shared a snippet of Parashakti; alumni choreography by her late guru, the trailblazing Menaka Thakkar. (Note: Music has been adapted for this clip). Neena passes down her rich dance lineage and profound knowledge with immense care and dedication. Come learn, move, and connect with us at this Sunday's session! 📅 Sunday, September 13th 📍 The Fifth Dance @ 5PM Link in bio to register or DM us for details!

As we begin to turn our sights toward to the beginning of an exciting new school year, we want to take a moment to refelct back on the magic that was "The Upheld Present" at SummerWorks. ☀️ Today we celebrate “Scratch a rock and a legend springs” choreographed by Rohee Uberoi and performed by Christopher Petersen, Emmett Bradshaw, Jules Vance, Osvaldo Barreda Buschmann, Rachana Joshi, Ranganathan Rajan & Wai Liu. 💫 About this experience Rohee says, "It was extremely inspiring to work in the context of SummerWorks Festival with such amazing line up. With such valuable and generous guidance from Heidi, and enthusiasm as well as nuanced interpretive approach from my colleagues as performers, the challenge to adapt a piece that was initially built for theatre, with a somewhat different group, soon became an opportunity. The piece requires or expects a particular attention from both inside and outside, especially because of working with silences and subtle sounds. Not only was this a step to further craft the dramaturgy of the piece, but also a chance to work through how to make the most of conditions the site and it’s people witnessing offer." 🌱 Stay tuned for a look into each of the pieces as we count down the days to the new school year! The second iteration of AIKA - reimagined as an ensemble piece - showed at the Here&Now Festival presented by @aeriskorper , and it was a special one. Multiple creations unfolding at once :) It’s been powerful to watch the piece shift through the people, the movement, and the space between us. Excited to share a short excerpt at @burlington_pac this month, and curious to see what PHASE 3 brings! Pictures by the brilliant @drewberry.photography 📸
