This new public artwork for the City of Austin was photographed at night using the least expected lighting tool in my kit: my four-year-old’s Elsa wand.

At night, Sun McColgin’s sculpture shifts into something moody and arresting, with pool floodlights catching the edges of its waves. In daylight, its bright blues and the wildlife mosaics by Ryah Christensen are vivid and inviting.

What you’re not seeing: me aggressively light-painting the scene with that same princess wand while a group of tennis players tried to make sense of it.

What a time we had celebrating our 35th Anniversary last weekend! Parksiders from across the years joined us for a family reunion and the unveiling of our new community mural! Thank you to @christymichellebeard and @ryahchristensen for collaborating with us - we will continue to add to this masterpiece each year. And thank you to @kitchen.elf for the delicious Parkside cookies! We're sending big love and gratitude to everyone who has been a part of Parkside and our mission of delivering Montessori Education from the Heart since 1991. We'll see y'all for our 40th in 2031!

ACG is excited to announce a new label blossoming off of our Noise-Rock tree!
It's called Tree Peony (no social media yet) and our first release is tomorrow with Austin's own @rainwalker_music

“Tree Peony is a branch of Australian Cattle God Records, focussing less on the hard and noisy, but still embracing the weirder and softer side of human created music.“

Their 7 song digital EP "Rainwalking" has a deep Austin vibe and is self-described as "Storytelling Rock".

It was recorded by @beardmastergeneral and mastered by George Coyne at Parrot Tracks Studio.

Check them out tomorrow, March 12 at 04 Lounge at 7pm!!!
