We are so honored & thrilled to share that some of our screen used work from Candyman 2021 will be on display at the Academy Museum for their upcoming exhibition The Horror Show! Opening September 26, 2026 & going through July 25, 2027 in Los Angeles.

All Special Makeup Fx including the Candyman hook were designed & created by @janthonykosar & @kosartstudios, from the skilled artists & technicians in the lab to the team of Prosthetic Makeup Artists on set.

@candymanmovie comes out on DVD/Blu-Ray today! 🪝 Be sure to check out all the special features, especially “BODY HORROR” that gives an in-depth look at the make-up FX we did throughout the film! Here’s a look at MUFX Designer @janthonykosar painting the Sherman Field’s CANDYMAN arm! @kosartstudios created a new iconic hook shape for the hive of Candymen in the film, intentionally different than the @tonytoddofficial hook. The hook was digitally sculpted, 3-D printed, and painted in-house by artist @ryan.guenther.9. We made several different variations of the hook. We had the hero hook, which was rigid and could be dangerous in the wrong setting. But we also made several stunt hooks that are very soft and won’t hurt anybody. The stunt hook tips were bendable and pliable. We built several rigs that worked in tandem with the hooks for what each of the scenes called for, including ones with a prosthetic arm stump, and other hook rigs designed to work around the actor’s hand wearing a green glove to be digitally removed in post with VFX. This particular hook and arm stump was created to be used for lighting reference for the VFX team for all scenes with Sherman Fields Candyman, played by @michaelhargroveofficial. All lab work by the talented team of artists at @kosartstudios. 🐝
