What an incredible weekend at the Westhampton Beach Project.

Two evenings brought together live music, dance, visual art, community, and people from across the East End for a celebration of creativity in Westhampton Beach.

Created by Steven Colucci, the Westhampton Beach Project continues to show what can happen when different creative disciplines and communities are brought together in one space. I was grateful to curate the visual arts portion through Art Hampton and to be part of a weekend that gave artists another platform to be seen and experienced.

Thank you to the artists, performers, organizers, supporters, families, local leaders, and everyone who came out. And thank you to Dan’s Papers for capturing the weekend.

These are the kinds of experiences I want to keep helping build across the Hamptons: accessible, collaborative arts programming that connects communities and creates real opportunities for artists.

Until next year. 🎨🎶

The West Hampton Project invites you to come see CONNIE CORTESE • July 24-25
12:00 PM - 8:00 PM • GREAT LAWN
Art Hampton Artist
Abstract in nature, Cortese’s work is influenced by the light, space, and silence found in a bucolic seaside fishing village at the east end of Long Island, 100 miles from Manhattan called Montauk, which she lovingly calls home.
Although Cortese was born in the Bronx, she found the salty aired hamlet a few months later when her grandfather bought a summer home in 1938 across the street from the Atlantic Ocean. Her parents followed, and Cortese’s passion for the East End was born.
She uses several mediums to express her abstractions. Oil on canvas is her primary, which she uses to express intense color compositions of geometric abstractions and impressionistic landscapes.
Encaustic, a wax-based paint (composed of beeswax, resin, and pigment), is a word derived from the Greek word “enkaustikos”, which means
“to burn in” is worked on Birchwood.

Driven by community. Powered by people.

Today at our pop-up headquarters at Serafina, the energy was incredible.

What struck us most weren’t the signs or the phones—it was the stories.

One young volunteer remembered working as a busboy years ago and said Jerry was the only customer who ever stopped to really acknowledge him and make him feel like he mattered.

Another volunteer, who waited tables while dreaming of something bigger, remembered Jerry encouraging her to pursue her goal of studying political science in college.

An old friend simply smiled and said, “Jerry is the hardest-working person I know.”

Supporters came from every generation. One flew in from Chicago. Another drove seven hours from Washington, DC. Friends, family, local Democratic candidates, and volunteers are spending the day posting, sharing, and helping spread the word because they believe in Jerry’s vision for East Hampton—and because they know the man behind it.

Character isn’t built during campaigns. It’s revealed over a lifetime.

🗳️ Polls are open until 9 PM tonight, so there’s still time to make your voice heard.

Want to help? Come by our pop-up headquarters at Serafina! We’ll be there until the polls close, and we’d love to have you join us. Whether you can stay for five minutes or an hour, every conversation, every post, and every show of support makes a difference.

🎉 And once you’ve voted, stick around! Beginning at 9 PM, we’ll turn headquarters into our Election Night Watch Party and celebrate the friendships, dedication, and community spirit that have made this campaign so special.

Thank you, East Hampton. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has been part of this journey, and we’re excited for all that lies ahead.

🌟 Introducing Rubeen Salem 🌟
Born in San Francisco and now based in NYC, Rubeen is an artist whose raw, expressive paintings dive deep into transformation, emotion, and the unseen forces shaping our human experience.

Blending abstraction with figuration, his work layers vibrant color, bold gestures, and dreamlike symbolism — evoking energy, movement, and impermanence. His practice often extends beyond the canvas into comics, live painting, immersive installations, and public interventions.

Rubeen’s work has been featured in both gallery and underground art spaces, including his 2024 solo show As Good As It Gets at All Street Gallery. Constantly experimenting, he continues to expand his practice through open studios, independent publishing, and collaborative projects.

We’re excited to welcome Rubeen to the Art Hampton family ✨
