🦁🦎🦜🙉🐇🦇🐺🐐🪶🐶 After weeks in the studio, it’s been pretty amazing to see this extraordinary production of Alcina finally arrive on stage. I’ve been working on the production as Assistant Choreographer & Rehearsal Director, a role that has involved everything from teaching company class each morning, learning multiple roles myself, rehearsing and supporting the dancers, and assisting the revival of the movement alongside the original Movement Director / Revival Director @sarahkatefahie I’ve found the whole experience genuinely transformative and have been enthralled and inspired by the level of artistry around me every day, the incredible singers and this brilliant group of dancers taking the movement and physical language of the production and gradually transforming themselves into these wonderful animal characters. 🐾 There’s something very special about watching all the detail, experimentation and graft of the rehearsal room become a living, breathing performance. And I’ve loved stepping into a role that has drawn on so many different parts of my own practice: dancer, teacher, movement director, rehearsal director and facilitator. It’s challenged me, stretched me and reminded me how much I love being in a room where movement, theatre and music all collide. We still have a few performances to go, so if you haven’t seen it yet, there’s still time… 👀 Very proud to be a part of this world!
