Millie Lathen is poised under pressure, scoring 20 a night and shooting in the neighborhood of 60% from the field as the primary offensive option last season at Grants Pass. That season also saw her break the Lady Cavers’ single-game scoring record with a 37-point outburst. She runs the fast break and creates for herself and her teammates while also having the length and strength of a bruising forward. Her skillset is made for Division I, and she has recently picked up offers from UNLV, Sacramento State and Saint Mary’s. Portland-area prospects often get the most attention around here, but this budding superstar from the south deserves much more love.

Ryan Oppenheimer (@ryanoppsmic) highlights five juniors climbing up the rankings:

Millie Lathen, Grants Pass
Jasa Lindsey, Lincoln
Sofia Rodriguez, Hermiston
Isira Jablonski, Grant
Hayden Decker, Crook County

Mila Rose (@mimiolivia30) is a tenacious combo guard who relishes the opportunity to compete, and she made the most of it at the Washington Freshman Showcase in Auburn. She showcased her quick first step, driving left on a defender all the way to the rack for two points. She also had a sequence where she blocked a shot emphatically, rebounded the ball, and immediately threw a pass ahead on the fast break. She grabbed rebounds over bigs, and she also rebounded her own missed three and laid it back in. Despite her fast-paced game, she does not have tunnel vision — on a drive, she dumped it off to the big before relocating to the corner and receiving the ball back for a wide-open jumper, which she hit. She does all the little things that will help her get on the floor quickly on a stacked Tualatin team that includes fellow freshmen Taylor Nash and Kya McCrae.

Ryan Oppenheimer (@ryanoppsmic) wrote about the players who represented Oregon in the @pghwashington Freshman Showcase last Saturday. Keep an eye on these three heading into high school season:

Mila Rose, Tualatin
Ellen White, Seaside (@ellenwhitebasketball)
Jaydin Holmes, Ashland (@jaydhoops)

Savannah Dahl is one of the purest shooters in the state, and she showed it during her summer outside the state. She competed with @trugame_select_nw out of Alaska, averaging 18.2 points per contest, and was rewarded with an offer from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She closed out her summer by making the second-team all-Adidas 3SSB Classic Bracket in South Carolina. Dahl’s movement shooting stands out among her other skills — she can move off the ball, curl off of screens and launch threes at crazy angles. She is also a capable self-creator and can run her team’s offense when needed. The 2025-26 Clackamas Cavaliers were fairly successful during what was supposed to be a transitional season. Having a healthy Dahl gives them a solid chance to return to the Chiles Center.

Ryan Oppenheimer (@ryanoppsmic) wrote about five seniors who have risen in the recently updated rankings:

Savannah Dahl, Clackamas
Clarissa Shurts, Banks
Annaleise Brown, Philomath
Talia Tyner, Marist Catholic
Jada Eatmon, Putnam

@payton.starwalt32 was one of the state’s most talented shooters the moment she enrolled at West Albany, but five months ago, she cemented her legacy as one of its most legendary players. Her 26 points in the championship were slightly below her season average of 26.8, but the Bulldogs needed every last one of them. One simply cannot go under on a ball screen while guarding her, no matter where she is on the court. She has WNBA range, and she uses that gravitational pull to find her teammates for open looks. Over the summer, Starwalt lit up the New Balance 17U circuit with 22 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. She will be off to Kentucky to play for @murraystateracerswbb in a year, but for now, she will focus on taking West Albany on a repeat run.

Ryan Oppenheimer (@ryanoppsmic) covers the returning all-state players from the 5A division:

Payton Starwalt, West Albany ’27
Nuari Filipe, Springfield ’29
Natalie Tidwell, West Albany ’27
Sailor Hall, Springfield ’27
Lucy Warren, Putnam ’27
Lola Chamberlain, West Albany ’27
McKinley Sloper, Crook County ’29
Kodee Kimball, Redmond ’29

There’s not much more @kaylorbuse could’ve done to win the No. 1 spot in the class of 2027 more convincingly. She is at the top because she led her team to the top, capturing the first-ever girls basketball state title for @westlinnwbb. She is also there because of how she did it: with exemplary leadership, confidence, and a desire to improve that goes beyond most. Her game is a reflection of her maturity, predicated on quick decisions, full-court vision and a lack of wasted movement. Her handle is tight, but she only uses it to get to her spots efficiently. She led her @nwselect P24 17U team in points, assists and blocks (as a 5’9 guard!). She also led the team in threes, showing her improvement as a shooter — once what many (herself included) considered her only real weakness. Her multiple Three Rivers League Defensive Player of the Year awards speak for themselves. Ranked No. 77 nationally in the SportsCenter NEXT 100, she has all the tools to thrive at the Power 4 level. Several programs are knocking on her door, including Oregon, Stanford, and most recently, Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks.

The latest from Ryan Oppenheimer (@ryanoppsmic) covers the finest girls hoopers our state has to offer. Here are the returning All-State players in 6A classification:

Kaylor Buse, West Linn ‘27
Love Lei Best, Tualatin ‘28
Kendall Dawkins, Tualatin ‘28
Nylah Webster, Nelson ‘27
Jayla Lackey, Benson ‘28
Kemara Phillips, Benson ‘28
Adia Fancher, Barlow ‘28

@francescakoehnke was already one of the fastest-rising prospects throughout last season. But I think we need to revisit what she’s accomplished in just her freshman season and the summer following. With her long-range marksmanship, remarkable leadership, volume scoring and playmaking, she took a Rams team that finished fifth in the conference in 2025 all the way to cutting down the Pendleton nets in 2026. She wasn’t just all-tournament or all-state — she was the 2A player of the year. After taking home all of that hardware, she got right back to work at the Mid Major Classic, where she scored 20 points in the final and took home tournament MVP. The accolades speak for themselves; Koehnke is a winner, a highly advanced underclassman, and one of Oregon’s finest high school athletes.

Ryan Oppenheimer (@ryanoppsmic) highlights five sophomores to watch:

Francesca Koehnke, Regis/Oregon Elite
Piper Hildreth, Newberg/Northwest Blazers
Maggie Puent, La Salle/Oregon Overtime
Ashanty Calderon, South Salem/Run and Shoot
Nora Halpern, Lincoln/Oregon Elite

It’s nearly rankings update season, and we at PGH Oregon want to leave no stone unturned!

We have hundreds of players in our rankings already, but we’ve inevitably missed plenty of deserving athletes. Before the new rankings debut, we want to extend an invitation to any currently unranked players that feel they should be included.

We currently rank classes 2027 through 2030, but 2031/2032 kids are welcome to reach out. Please DM with as much info as possible! Players may be placed either on the watchlist or the numbered rankings.

We take pride in covering the uncovered and knowing as many names as possible! Help us help you! Thanks and good luck to all girls hoopers this summer and beyond 🏀
