Well, that’s a hell of a wrap for the week. 8 homeruns at St. Patrick Park in Midcity. Hell of a game for Brett Tebbe & Rob Robinson. We played until it was damn near impossible to see with the sun setting over centerfield.

In Toasty's People's Poll, we had 44 voters in our preseason poll. These were some of the most unusual ballots we got. We also received some very familiar and uncontroversial ballots, too.

Thanks to @toastyfbmemes for allowing me to share his platform to take part in this project for a 2nd season!

The best cultural photography doesn't happen from the sidelines.

It happens when you're part of the story.

This week on The P.H.Y.S Podcast, I sit down with New Orleans photographer @10thwardphotoguy for a conversation about community, culture, music, and belonging.

Originally from Memphis, Ryne has spent years documenting the second lines, neighborhood traditions, and everyday moments that give New Orleans its soul.

His photography isn't about chasing headlines.

It's about showing up.

Building relationships.

And preserving the stories that make communities unique.

We talk about photography, music, identity, respect, and the responsibility that comes with documenting culture from within rather than from the outside looking in.

This is a conversation about more than photography.

It's about place.

It's about connection.

And it's about keeping culture alive through storytelling.

Available now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and wherever you listen to podcasts.

Get out the Crawfish, Camille! Another monumental walk off homerun from Carson Briggs, this one a grand slam, called by our very own @pblneworleans commentator Ryne Hancock. The S9 secure the W and head to the Semi-Finals.

In this episode of The P.H.Y.S Podcast, I sit down with @10thwardphotoguy , also known as Ryne Hancock, a New Orleans–based photographer and DJ at WTUL, originally from Memphis, Tennessee.

Through his work Ryne documents second line parades, neighborhood traditions, and the everyday life that gives New Orleans its pulse. His photography is rooted in community, presence, and participation, showing up and honoring culture from within rather than observing from a distance.

For Ryne, photography is about more than images. It’s about relationship, trust, and responsibility. His work reflects the rhythms of the city, capturing moments where music, movement, history, and identity intersect in the streets of New Orleans.

In this conversation we explore the meaning of place, belonging, and storytelling through lived experience.

We talk about the responsibility of documenting culture with respect, the influence of Memphis on Ryne’s creative voice, and the powerful connection between music, community, and visual storytelling.

This episode is a thoughtful reflection on presence, identity, and the importance of keeping culture alive through photography and storytelling.

What does it mean to document a place from the inside, not as an observer, but as a participant in the culture that shapes it?

Today on The Life of PHYS Podcast, I’m joined by Ryne Hancock (@rynewashere), a New Orleans based photographer and WTUL DJ whose work is rooted in community, presence, and lived experience. Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Ryne brings a deep understanding of heritage, rhythm, and history into every image he creates.

Through his work shared on @rynewashere and @shotsbyryne, Ryne documents second line parades, neighborhood traditions, and the everyday life that gives New Orleans its pulse. His photography is not about standing on the outside looking in. It is about showing up, participating, and honoring culture from within.

In this episode we explore
• The meaning of place, belonging, and cultural identity
• Why photographing New Orleans requires respect, presence, and relationship
• The influence of Memphis on Ryne’s artistic voice
• The connection between music, movement, history, and the streets
• How documenting culture becomes an act of preservation

This conversation is about presence, identity, and keeping culture alive. A powerful reminder that storytelling begins with showing up.

Thankful for another season of baseball in New Orleans. Peep the schedule and mark your calendars. We’ll be splitting the season between Larry Gilbert Stadium and Joe Brown Park. S9 is one of ten teams in the @pblneworleans, the last remaining hard pitch, wood bat, community baseball league actively playing in Orleans Parish. If you’re interested in learning more, getting back to the greatest game in the world, drop us a line.
