We took away Ryan’s eyesight and told him to make a pot 😭

Somehow he ended up with a Moon Jar！

The BTH wheel did its part and stayed steady — the rest was all Ryan.

The wheel keeps turning. So does Ryan. ☝🏻

Last time: 31 cm
This time: 32.5 cm

Not the #BTH2KGChallenge record — but a new personal best.

Same 2 kg of clay. Another try. Another 1.5 cm.

Keep spinning. Keep pushing.

Who’s coming back for another attempt?

Tag @bth_jingdezhen + #bth2kgchallenge with yours.

@michael_may_studio took on the #BTH2KGChallenge with exactly 2 kg of clay and pushed it to 28 cm.

@rynlabar ’s 31 cm record survives… for now. 😏

Think you can beat it?

Grab 2 kg of clay, measure your final piece, and tag @BTH + #BTH2KGChallenge.

5 random tools. 1 blind pick. No changing your mind.

@rynlabar picked a letter…
and ended up with a fork. 🍴

The challenge? Use whatever you get to create a surface texture on the wheel.

Would you take the challenge?

Tag BTH and use #BTHRandomToolChallenge if you try your own version.

The #BTH2KGChallenge starts now! How high can you go? 👀

Why 2 kg? It’s enough clay to give you room to push the height, but little enough that every bit counts.

Now it’s your turn.

Grab 2 kg of clay, throw it as high as you can, measure your final piece, then tag @BTH + use #BTH2KGChallenge so we can see your attempt.

Think you can go higher? 👀

Went to visit Gaya Ceramic in Ubud Bali yesterday, it took most of the day as traffic here is so bad. This shows some of the work by previous visiting artists that have given workshops here. Some amazing talent.

We’re finally starting to look back on our time at the 52st International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) Congress 2026 in Jingdezhen.

Our goal was to build new international connections around contemporary porcelain, and these few days were full of inspiration, conversations, discoveries, and new friendships.

We visited at least five exhibitions showcasing different directions in contemporary ceramics, many of them featuring outstanding porcelain works. We also explored local museums, listened to inspiring lectures, and met artists, curators, researchers, ceramic professionals from all over the world.

A big thank you to our Professor @michalpuszczynski for showing us some of the hidden ceramic corners of @jdzinternationalstudio and introducing us to the work of local artists. It gave us a completely different perspective on Jingdezhen and its ceramic community.

This is just the beginning of our reflection, we’ll be sharing much more from this inspiring journey soon.

Project was supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute @mickiewicz_institute through the NetWorks Programme, financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland.

A visit to the Spring Art Museum of 2025.

I had to re-upload (sped up and edited to fit the whole video and still comply to instgram reel time limit)

And what is a trip without the stories and the people you meet and spend quality time with.

Then imagine, the trip is with international artists from different parts of the world with different mediums and art disciplines. Beautiful enlightened souls. ✨

On top of that, we’ve read about the Kuweiti’s cultural significance in literature, theatre, drama, art, as well as printing in the region. But to witness that is something I’m really grateful for.

Again, thanks @kw_nccal
