For the duration of Collective Futures, @iceboxprojectspace becomes Icebox Mall. We have it all: Late hours (open till 9PM), a movie theatre (Errata Projects), a video rental store (VCR). Get your outfits ready for prom (FJORD) and go to a club revival (PEEP Projects). We may not have a DEB, Claire’s, or Hot Topic, but on Wednesdays, we have a food court (Salad Bar Wednesdays)! Free to enter. Loitering is encouraged. Slip on your keds and walk a few laps. Inspired by the mall as a third space, a commons of collective experience, where you had your first kiss or hung out with your friends after school, Icebox Mall reimagines the familiar architectures of social life for collaborative cultural exchange. Similar to the interdependent, yet separate nature of businesses within a mall, Icebox Mall operates as the container to bring together 11 different projects by @batikhcollective, @fjord_, @byoprint, @termitetvcollective, @biomaterials.working.group, @manyfortunes, @davinciartalliance, errata projects, @peepprojects, @allmutable, and @VCRphilly. SAVANNAH REICH ON ROSE LUARDO "There is a kind of Pee Wee Herman / John Waters quality to the Rose Luardo experience, a manic, deviant and muppety energy that is pure id. Your work makes me feel like we are all a bunch of bad kids in our makeshift clubhouse, telling dirty jokes and learning secret handshakes. I don’t know how you create such a sense of community in your audiences, but every time I’ve seen one of your shows it takes me back to being nineteen years old and walking into a midwestern punk show in someone’s garage. Your shows have the energy of a party where everyone knows each other and the whole thing could get us arrested."
