POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This year (and lately), I’ve decided to live a little more at my own pace.

To post less, be more present, and stop feeling like everything needs to be shared especially immediately. (Just look at the date of my last feed post… 😂)

These photos are from April, from Champagne, a region I had the pleasure of revisiting, and from a trip I organised for a small private group. 🍾

Small producers, iconic maisons, lots of food, plenty of wine, and a true lesson in French gastronomy and hospitality. 💙

I’ve been missing using this space to share and keep little moments of life as they happen, rather than simply “performing” for the online world.

And maybe that’s what’s been missing.

I no longer feel the need to keep up with the pace of the online world… I’d rather live my life and post when it feels right or when I feel like it. 🫶🏻

Thank you to @vinifera.ve, Patrícia and Júlia, who made this experience happen with me. 🤍

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:
You Should Never Drink Champagne From a Flute! 🥂

Last time I said this, my post went viral - over 2 million views, lots of agreement, but also a lot of comments along the lines of “You’re not French, what do you know!”

So I went to Champagne to ask them.

At Sacré Bistro in Épernay, home to one of the best Champagne lists in the region, I asked Alizé Franquet, their Sommelier.

One of her comments said it all:
“In a flute, you miss 90% of the Champagne.”

Here’s why it’s time to make the switch:

📜 Aesthetics Over Tasting:
The flute was historically designed just to showcase a vertical line of rising bubbles - not to enhance the flavour, aroma, or texture of the wine.

👃 Trapped Aromatics:
Narrow rims choke off the complex aromas, meaning you miss all those wonderful champagne aromas.

🍾 Remember, Champagne Is Wine:
At Sacré Bistro, there are ZERO flutes in the restaurant. They stock eight different wine glass styles depending on the specific cuvée you order!

🥂 Try It Yourself!
Next time you open a bottle - whether it’s a cult grower Champagne or your favourite Grand Maison - try this simple test: pour half a glass into a flute, and half into a standard white wine glass or a wider bowl.
Taste both, and then decide for yourself - I think you’ll be amazed! Let me know in the coments!

Send it to someone who still swears by the flute and follow for more Champagne tips! 🍾

Epernay in May 🍾
🇫🇷
🥂
Expectations were set pretty high for this part of the trip, and Epernay delivered an unforgettable experience that deserves to be repeated, often.
🍷
This is a place to skip the big names, you’ll find them anywhere, settle into one of the fantastic champagne bars along the famous Avenue de Champagne, and order a glass or 6 to share. It’s a place to make everlasting memories, and remind yourself just how good life is.
🍾
A few standouts:
.
First tasting experience - @champagnemichelgonet with its beautiful, calm garden setting
.
Fav tasting experience - @domaine_abergere a truly interesting and thoughtful guided tasting
.
Fav dining experience - @sacrebistro great food, great wines, amazing staff
🥂
It wasn’t all just knocking back Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, though. Absolutely nothing can beat the pleasure of running the Avenue at sunrise, out into the vineyards of Epernay, followed by a leisurely coffee in the dead quiet town centre. Blissful joy.
🏃‍♂️
Epernay, I’ll see you again.
