A glimpse into my Manifesto for Eti-Osa II… Earlier this year, when I announced that I was running for office, I didn’t realise that I would have to transform into the version of myself that could actually run a race. So I spent time with my greatest teachers, Jesus and my family. I learned many things. My father once told said that he leads his family the same way he leads his organisation. At the time, I thought this was strange. But now I understand what it means: everyone is family and everyone is valuable. And leadership begins at home. Like they say “charity begins at home”. The first home being your body, the second your family and friends, then community and country. Because how we treat what is closest to us shows how we will care for what is entrusted to us on a larger scale. So I did a deep dive into my family affairs, I think for the first time I wanted to understand my role; how have I been leading? I usually lead with my words or my presence. I realised that I’m quite bullish, forcing outcomes, forcefully moving things along, but this time I let God work through me, I moved when necessary, intervened as God prompted, disappeared when necessary for two reasons: on the other side of a bad or misaligned decision is chaos and part of being a solution to a problem is knowing exactly how to show up and when not to. Your intervention is actually a disservice to someone who is on own their own journey of learning. Oversharing when you should not is also an offence to our Maker, because you may be blocking them from seeking help from the right place (within,God) you’re also blocking them from manifesting through another means.

And this is how I intend to lead: never assuming I know everything; always listening; remembering that I am a tool, an instrument, a gateway and a vehicle for change.

I also learned about providence. I received the word that we all choose to be here, but we forget who sent us; but when we remember, everything works together for our good. And finally the hardest lesson was learning to live without fear. I had to lose my friend so that even death is now my friend.

I am looking forward to leading with all of this in mind…
