What does it feel like to stand exactly where the writers you love once stood?

Michelle and I are both literary-driven women, and there was no version of this Paris trip where we skipped Shakespeare and Company. It’s the kind of place neither of us can avoid, and for good reason — this is the shop that carried Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Gertrude Stein through their Paris years, that first published Joyce’s Ulysses when no one else dared. Just running my fingers along the spines scratches an itch I can’t name and definitely can’t find back home. I’ve missed it terribly.

Sitting there, I found myself deep in musings about what it might mean to live abroad. And underneath all that beauty, a real ache surfaced too — for the heat waves Paris and this whole region are enduring this summer, a genuinely terrifying hurdle for a city built long before anyone imagined this kind of heat.

Some places don’t just host history. They invite you to imagine yourself inside of it.

What place has ever made you want to imagine a whole different life?#storytellingcontentchallenge

What does it take to begin with the end in mind, while still leaving room for mystery?

I live in high desert — we need more water here. So next: activating my inner Temple Builder and calling the water element into this space.

The old temples were devotion made visible. Heaven, brought down to earth. We’re all unique fingerprints of God’s creation, here to remind each other how amazing that is.

The quiet is where the muse gets to amuse.

What wants to be born in the blank space you’re willing to sit inside of?#stortytellingcontentchallenge

I missed France last year. I was at the LAX airport when I heard a freight train go through, and I knew something was wrong. It turned out to be a benign meningioma, a brain tumor, and I had to have it removed before I could go anywhere. The trip got shelved. But underneath that delay was something much older — I first felt the pull to live in Paris back in drama school in London in the eighties. This isn’t a new dream. It’s a decades-old knowing, finally getting its recon mission.

So now I’m healed, and I’m packing, and the wardrobe I’m choosing isn’t just for me. It’s for you too, because you’re coming with me through the camera as part of this twenty-one day storytelling content challenge. Every piece on the rack had to earn its place. I auditioned each one: Does it feel like me, or is it too Viva Las Vegas? Can it survive an unpredictable heat wave? Does it let the receptive feminine in me show up, the way I hoped it would at the Mary Magdalene retreat I had to cancel when Provence caught fire?

I didn’t get the link for my editing class today, so this video is a one-take, no edits, no safety net. The wardrobe reveal itself is still on hold too — I’m mid-audition with these pieces, still deciding what makes the final cut for Europe. Neither of those was the plan. But life keeps handing us pivots, and the real work isn’t avoiding them. It’s what we do with how we relate to the pivot itself.

What have you had to pivot on lately, and how did you meet it?#storytellingcontentchallenge

Since I’m 8 months pregnant,
my family told me to keep the Christmas decorations simple 🎄
…so anyway 😌
Be honest —
how did I do? 👇🏽

Was it:

They tell me to sit down...
But creating is what I do!

Behind the scenes of Moody Designs—even at 34 weeks pregnant.
I’m finally slowing down physically,
but pivoting creatively. I'm leaning into the digital side of what I build.

Less physical
More digital
Same vision. Same excellence.

Have you ever had to slow down in a season you didn't expect?

Drop a ❤️ if you're learning to pivot in a new season.
