"You can tell me anything, and nothing you ever tell me will stop me loving you."

These simple words can have a profound impact on a child's wellbeing. When children know they are loved unconditionally, they're more likely to share their worries, celebrate their successes, ask for help, and navigate life's challenges with confidence.

Creating environments where children feel safe, heard, and respected helps build resilience, self-esteem, emotional intelligence, and a strong sense of belonging. Our partnership with Safe4Kids supports this approach through our Protective Education Program, helping children develop confidence in their voice, trust in their feelings, and the understanding that there are trusted adults on their Safety Team ready to listen and support them.

Because every child deserves to feel and be safe.

The moment something scary happens to your child online, what's the first thought in their head?

For most children, it's not "I need to tell Mum and Dad."

It's "I'm going to lose my phone."

And that fear? Predators know exactly how to use it. "Don't tell your parents or you'll get in trouble" works because children already believe it.

I spent 8 years investigating child exploitation cases. I've seen what happens when children feel they can't speak up. When the fear of punishment outweighs the fear of the danger they're facing.

Swipe through to understand why I constantly recommend one simple promise to parents.

The phone is not the problem. Silence is.

AI-generated abuse material rose 1,325% in a single year. Children are being targeted with fabricated images and blackmail threats. They need to know they can come to you without losing everything.

Send this to a parent who needs it. Save this for later.

Who are the five adults your child would tell if something didn't feel right?

Keeping children safe is always the responsibility of adults. But we can also give children the language, confidence and trusted relationships they need to speak up.

The Safe4Kids Protective Education Program is beginning to roll out across Montessori Academy services, strengthening the way we teach and talk about child safety across our community.

A key concept children will explore is their Safety Team: five trusted adults they know they can turn to if they ever feel worried, uncomfortable or unsafe. Adults who will:

Listen
Believe them
Be available
Take action to help

Children also learn an important message: if the first person doesn't listen, keep telling until someone does.

Protective education never places the responsibility for safety on children. That stays firmly with the adults, educators, services and communities around them. Safe4Kids gives us a shared language around body safety, personal boundaries, trusted adults and speaking up, and helps the adults around every child listen, respond and act.

What happens when hundreds of parents, educators, community leaders, and child safety advocates come together in one room? Real conversations. Practical strategies. A shared commitment to protecting children.

This National Child Protection Week, Montessori Academy was proud to partner with Safe4Kids to launch a joint Protective Education Program, empowering children with the age-appropriate knowledge, language, and confidence to stay safe and seek help when they need it.

Thank you to Safe 4 Kids Director Holly-ann Martin OAM, Donna Davis MP Member for Parramatta and Parliamentary Committee on Children and Young People, and City of Parramatta Councillor Tanya Raffoul for helping make these important information sessions possible.

Together, we're building safer communities through education, awareness, and action.

Every child deserves to feel safe, heard and empowered to speak up.

This National Child Protection Week, Montessori Academy is turning conversation into action through a new organisation-wide partnership with Safe4Kids, strengthening protective education for children, educators and families across more than 70 early learning services in NSW, Victoria and the ACT.

Aligned with this year’s theme, “Every Conversation Matters: Shifting Conversation to Action,” the partnership brings together specialist educator training, parent education and ongoing access to Safe4Kids protective education courses, tools and resources, creating a shared language around child safety across our community.

Led by child safety educator Holly-ann Martin OAM, with more than 30 years’ experience in child protection education, Safe4Kids will help children build an age-appropriate understanding of protective behaviours, personal boundaries, body safety, their rights and how to speak up and seek help.

Educators and families will be equipped with the knowledge, shared language and practical tools to listen, respond and act.

More than 7,000 children and families will be supported through the partnership.

Safe4Kids forms part of Montessori Academy’s Seven Pillars of Child Safety, strengthening Pillar Six: Empowering Children’s Voices across our community.

Because keeping children safe takes all of us.

Informed adults. Empowered children. A culture where every child’s voice is heard and acted upon.

Every conversation matters. Every action matters.

Stay tuned as Safe4Kids begins rolling out across our services.

Children’s Voices Matter: Safe Schools, Safer Futures

As part of our National Safe Schools & Youth Security Dialogue 2026, the Lola Cater Foundation paid a strategic visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) @official_nscdc National Headquarters to engage on the National Safe Schools Project @safeschools_ng. @nscdc_gallery

The session gave our team and young participants valuable insight into the work the NSCDC is doing to protect schools, strengthen community security, and create safer learning environments across Nigeria.

The highlight of the visit was hearing directly from the children.

Khadijah, a student of Lola Cater Academy in Karonmajigi IDP Camp, who dreams of becoming a soldier, asked how children displaced by insecurity can regain access to safe, quality education and whether children in IDP camps will one day enjoy the same level of protection as those in urban communities.

Another student, Aliyu, asked how children can support security agencies without putting themselves at risk, while Folarin, a 100-level Medical Student from Achievers University, proposed partnerships for medical students to provide first aid training and establish Safe School Clubs.

The NSCDC Commander, Safe Schools Project, responded to every question, reaffirming the Corps’ commitment to protecting schools and encouraging young people to become ambassadors for school safety.

Our Founder and Executive Director, Ololade Ogunnubi, also introduced the upcoming Young Leaders Assembly Academy 2026 and invited the NSCDC to partner with us by leading sessions on Safe Schools, Peace, Security, and Responsible Citizenship.

This engagement reminded us that the best solutions are created when children are not only protected—but also heard.

Together, we can build a Nigeria where every child learns in safety, dignity, and hope.

Dear parents, I wanted to let you know that some of you will face lawsuits as your children grow older and begin to question why you shared their private lives to the world without their consent. What feels like harmless content today, particularly the funny videos, emotional moments, disciplinary episodes, or deeply personal milestones, can become a source of identity conflict, or even trauma for that same child tomorrow. We are raising a generation whose childhoods are no longer theirs.
By the time some children turn 13, thousands of images and videos of them already exist online and shared before they could speak, choose, or understand. Studies have suggested that the average child may have a digital footprint of over 1,000 images before their fifth birthday. That is not memory-keeping. It is exposure!
Did you know that exposure comes with consequences?
Evidence suggests that children whose lives are consistently shared online are more vulnerable to:
(I) Identity theft and digital kidnapping (where their images are stolen and reused)
(Ii) Bullying and peer humiliation when private moments resurface later
(Iii) Psychological harm from lack of autonomy and consent
(Iv) Exploitation by strangers who consume and redistribute content in harmful ways.
Every child deserves the right to grow, make mistakes, feel emotions, and experience life without an invisible audience watching, judging, saving, and sometimes weaponising their most vulnerable moments. When you turn your child’s life into content, especially for social media engagement and the resulting monetisation, you blur the line between parenting and performance.

This is a call to deep reflection. As a parent, are you protecting your child’s future, or trading it for present engagement? I’m speaking up for every child whose voice was never considered, whose privacy was traded for content, whose story was told before they could tell it themselves.
Because every child deserves to feel safe and protected.
