We hope you’re doing well amidst recent scary climate news, with the worst El Niño in a thousand years recently reported 😓

It’s predicted to take us past not just 1.5C of average global heating for a period, but 2C. Climate researcher Dr Nicholas Beuret says, “this is the difference between what is merely dangerous climate change and absolute catastrophe.”

This “climate supercycle” will accelerate food prices, resource shortages, disrupt supply chains and increase economic instability.

It’s so easy to feel powerless, but every person and organisation has the power to instead contribute to a Just Transition and dramatically reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

We’re here to support you in making a difference!

👉 Our Carbon Literacy Course for Fashion and Retail breaks down the science and gives best practice studies, industry approaches to inspire and motivate, and the tools you need to build climate action in your role & organisation.

Don’t miss the chance to join our upcoming online course on 30 October & 6 November, 9am-1pm GMT!

This training will be led by experienced sustainable fashion leaders & professionals @safia_minney, @the_elephant_in_my_wardrobe & @hannahlaurenriley

One month ago today, Charity Shop World was released into the wild. 📚

Since then, I've been on tour having conversations with amazing women in amazing book-magic venues.

Writing a book is a deeply social process, and I wanted that to be reflected in this tour. It is true that when you write a book you sit by yourself for hours/months/years but you are also in constant conversation – with interviewees, with other books, with political ideas.

Charity Shop World is also a conversation with a place – The Charity Shop – and with the amazing people who work there (who many of you have met and fallen for by now.)

So the book tour needed to be a dialogue too. And I am so glad it is! Each of these women brought buckets of expertise and passion. Their questions challenged me and expanded my view of what Charity Shop World could mean.

Becky in Bristol kicked it all off. Laura, who hosted my first book launch back in 2014, did the official launch. Safia, Hayley, Lakyn, Constanza, Sally, Rosie, Tanveer - each conversation added more and more to this project and I am incredibly grateful.

I feel like this book tour is achieving good politics – it’s a continuation of the work and a grounding for all the hard work ahead.

⭐ If you'd like to join the conversation, Charity Shop World is available from all good bookshops and websites.
🫶 Link in my bio to order. 🫶
Please support your local independent bookshop, they are magical places! 📚

📚🗺️ Come and join me at the next two stops on tour, in Exeter and Stroud!

📍 Exeter at Bookbag 🗓️ Wednesday 7th October, 6pm

📍 Stroud Book Festival 🗓️ Thursday 5th November, 6pm

See you there! 💥 🩷 📖

Photodump of a very surreal September so far. I generally love live to mix the extremes. One day teacher, the other student. high end fashion weeks, down to earth community building and connecting on a ‘real’ level with people and their crafts.

I started September by moving into a new office. The building was tagged with graffiti everywhere so we (my partner and I) are painting and renovating and seeking out second hand furniture to ….. start something new. More news on Friday :-) but painting, cleaning at night, doing normal work during the week and grant writing during the weekend has been my August and September rythm.

I started September at the EU commission with a morning discussing the future of craftmenship in a fast changing tourism sector under pressure of climate change. Being put in the same panel like Booking.com and Airbnb? surreal!

I traveled to London invited by the marvelous @safia_minney to a panel with @sustainablefashionweek_uk @the_elephant_in_my_wardrobe and @tansyhoskins. Met @selvedgemagazine whom I immediately connected to our Indian Craft related members.

In August COSH! Signed up to Erasmus+ and we are receiving our first guest entrepreneur to the Hub this week. Francesca from @frii.shirt Firenze Italy comes to follow me and learn from entrepreneur to entrepreneur for six months. Costs covered by Erasmus+ she will be the co-host at the new COSH! future circular Fashion Textile Hub in the centre of Bruges 🔥.

We are opening this Friday! Comment ticket if you want an invite for the event. We love to tailor content to the audience sign-up, come to Bruges Friday evening and we make sure you’ll have a blast and expand your ‘sustainable’ fashion Network beyond city borders as COSH! Members from Germany and Netherlands are coming to town.

Thursday I was invited to present the @cosh.digitalwardrobe learnings and statistics at the @circular.flanders and Green Deal Huren en Delen event in Leuven alongside @battmobilitybe and @toolsquare.io. We have insights of >20.000 wardrobes and it would shock you to know who the biggest retailer at the moment is, getting most sales in Belgium. And… the Dutch are ahead of the Flemish when it …
