The duo between Maya Giraudet (France) and Saga Ivéus Wenglert (Sweden) was formed in 2022 and developed over three years of studies in dance and performance at Stockholm University of the Arts. Centered around dance as our core, we work with humor, rhythm, voice, and the
use of language as our main tools.

From studio research to the stage, our relationship with the audience is one of our primary concerns, as it fuels our desire to make artistic practices more accessible and to encourage participation. Within this dialogue, we advocate for an approach that is both caring and daring.

MAINS PAR CŒUR/HÄNDER VID HJÄRTAT

In the manner and spirit of children, the performance Mains par Cœur pays tribute to the complexity of children’s games and to the spontaneous physical connections that arise on playgrounds. This 30‑minute performance is intended for all ages and can be presented both indoors and outdoors.
In an atmosphere filled with lively sounds, the dance grows progressively. We fill the space like one single team, clapping our hands and singing in unison. The choreography unfolds within a landscape of colors and shapes on the floor, inspired by playgrounds. Guided by the endless desire to reinvent the rules of the game, we imagine new meeting points where rhythms, voices and movements intertwine.

Do we know the game by heart? Do we have it on the tip of our tongues?

The performance also carries an educational dimension, centered on cooperation, memory, and exchanges between generations and languages. Through play, it connects diverse audiences and brings the mixing of languages into motion. “The game” is performed by two dancers, Maya Giraudet (France) and Saga Ivéus Wenglert (Sweden), who met during their dance and choreography studies at the Stockholm University of the Arts.

RESIDENS VECKA 46-47: Maya Giraudet & Saga Iveus Wenglert

”Mains par cœur (working title) is a family performance that has its starting point in children’s clapping games. The game creates a soundful dance like the duet of two friends on a courtyard or playground. We play and listen as one single team clapping hands and singing in unison, faster and faster. Repeating, accumulating, overlapping rhythm, voice and movement. Endless sounds in the endless desire to reinvent the rules and imagine new paths. A play with what can become bigger and bigger. Following and ignoring the rules, this performance honours the complexity of children’s games and seeks for the instant physical connections of the playground. Do you know it by heart, do you have it on the tip of your tongue?

It’s a dance for both outdoor and indoor spaces, that aims to stimulate through play: each other and an audience of all ages.

The duo of Maya Giraudet (FR) and Saga Ivéus Wenglert (SE) was born in 2022 and grew during their three years of dance studies at Stockholm University of the Arts.”

Maya och Saga kommer att visa ett utdrag av verket på den samlade residensvisningen 29/11 - varmt välkomna!

Residenset är möjligt med stöd fån Region Stockholm och Södertälje kommun.
