Meet WCAI: the India Chapter of the Women’s Coffee Alliance.

Since 2012, we’ve brought together growers, roasters, cuppers, trainers, and entrepreneurs - all working toward one mission: sustaining women through food, nutrition, health, education, and economic wellbeing, from household to global level.

Because behind every cup of coffee is a woman who made it possible ☕️

We started Eventide with a simple idea — make specialty coffee feel like it belongs to everyone. The @indianaeropresschampionship felt like the most natural expression of that.

And what showed up today was beyond anything we expected.

40 competitors. From Chennai, Ooty, Kerala, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. People who drove hours, flew in, packed this space — all brewing the same coffee, all here because they genuinely care about what’s in the cup.

This is what a growing coffee culture looks like.

Thank you to every competitor, every judge, every single person who showed up and made this room electric. You are the culture.

We’re doing our best, the kids are doing worse but nobody is accepting feedback right now. Coffee still tastes like home though🌞🤍

“A decade ago, espresso and orange juice felt wildly experimental. I still remember that first sip sitting sharp and bright on my palate. It didn't matter whether I liked it or not; that drink rewired my idea of what coffee could be. It felt slightly naughty, like I was breaking a few unspoken rules.

This recipe is a quiet accumulation of advice and tips I've picked up along the way. Someone once told me to grate orange zest straight into filter coffee powder before brewing. Another swore by dropping a square of dark chocolate into hot coffee. Ironically, dark chocolate was the one thing 15-year-old me refused to touch. Too bitter, and reserved for the grown-ups. And now here I am adding it willingly to my cup.”

Sahana Jagannathan (@sahanasomewhere), Founder of Meter Coffee (@drinkmetercoffee)

"It felt slightly naughty, like I was breaking a few unspoken rules."

That's @sahanasomewhere on the first time she tried espresso with orange juice. A decade later, that same instinct - curious, a little rebellious, precise - lives in the Orange Coffee recipe she contributed to Issue 01 of Orange Stains. A recipe built from borrowed tips and one very good memory of a sip that rewired everything.

And while you're at it, this is your sign to grab a pack or two of Meter Coffee and make the best coffee you've ever had. The Orange Coffee recipe is waiting for you inside.
