It’s been almost 25 years since I quit law practice to become a working artist. I wanted to get an MFA all that time, but between building a studio practice and raising a family it never seemed like the right time. Until three years ago when Rachel said just fucking do it already. I started commuting to the legendary School of the Art Institute of Chicago, in the same museum where Georgia O’Keefe learned to paint, working alongside the most inspiring cohort on the same journey. Grateful for the generosity of my extraordinary family, classmates, teachers, and friends for making this dream a reality.

Last Sunday we visited @theneofuturists, a collective of wildly prolific writer/director/performers who presented “The Infinite Wrench”, 30 queer plays in 60 straight minutes. Thank you for all the inspiration and for sharing your creative processes with @saicpics Low Residency MFA participants!
Shout out to our very own LRMFA extraodinaire @a_wind_blows for arranging this quintessential Chicago event experience!

Congratulations to our very own Kelly Kaczynski who is a 2024 Lion Award Recipient! A Lion Award recipient embodies the ideals and values of the Museum and School, as follows:

· Works brilliantly with others: They use their strengths to help everyone on the team shine.
· Always gives their best: They’re dedicated, skilled, and take the initiative to make things better.
· Makes everyone feel welcome: They create a friendly and supportive environment where everyone belongs.
· Helps others grow: They share their knowledge, mentor others, and make learning fun.
· Has big ideas: They think creatively and champion positive changes that move us forward.

As we all know, Kelly embodies all this and more. Her efforts are a crucial part of what makes the Low-Res Program so special. CONGRATULATIONS KELLY!!!!!
