It’s the last full week of training before we race under the lights. For the last two years we’ve been so lucky to have ASICS pacers come out and assist in pacing our team to their best miles ever. So we wanted to know, if your could choose, who would be your dream ASICS pro to pace you during Better Your Mile?

Balancing baby bottles and starting blocks. Sleepless nights and starting lines.
The journey of a mother-athlete is one of sport’s greatest challenges and greatest triumphs.
The USATF Foundation is proud to award Maternity Grants to three inspiring women, Betsy Saina, Elle St. Pierre, and Amy Davis-Green. We are happy to support their return to competition as they navigate pregnancy, recovery, and motherhood.
These athletes remind us that strength takes many forms and resilience has no finish line. #BecauseSheCanDoBoth

When you think about the highs and lows that accompany returning to running after having a baby, Betsy Saina’s story has them all.

Of course, Betsy is a professional runner – a record-setting, multi-talented Olympian – and there is a vast difference between getting back to running as a hobby and doing it when it’s to make a living.

But from our conversation, which you can read at New Mom Run Club on Substack, she still shares much in common with moms who run for, ahem, fun.

And there’s a lot we, as non-professional amateurs, can take from her story. Through it all, Betsy has remained poised and upbeat, and focussed on her long-term goals, both personal and professional, and it’s so motivating to see.

So thankful to Betsy for chatting with me about what it’s like to return to running as a professional athlete and then prepare to do it all over again with a new baby.
