Local Councils (LCs) are the foundation of Uganda's local governance system. They play a vital role in representing communities, promoting peace and security, resolving local disputes, mobilizing community development, and ensuring that citizens' voices are heard in decision-making. Strong local leadership is essential for building accountable, inclusive, and prosperous communities.
As Ugandans head to the polls to elect their Local Council leaders, Saint Ann Foundation encourages everyone to participate peacefully, responsibly, and respectfully. Every vote is an opportunity to strengthen democracy and shape the future of our communities.
We wish all Ugandans peaceful, free, fair, and successful Local Council elections. May this exercise unite us as a nation and lead to leaders who serve with integrity, transparency, and dedication to the well-being of all.
Happy Elections, Uganda! 🇺🇬
Together, we build stronger communities and a brighter future.

🌿 Where Play Is a Luxury: Childhood on Buyiga Island

On Buyiga Island, nestled deep within the waters of Lake Victoria, childhood looks very different from what most imagine.

Here, play is not a given — it's a stolen moment.

🎈While children everywhere deserve to laugh, run, and play freely, many on Buyiga grow up without toys, without playgrounds, and often without the time to simply be children. Their days are filled with responsibilities far beyond their years — fetching water, helping at home, walking miles to school.

🏃🏾‍♀️Yet, when they find a moment — a stick becomes a toy, a clearing becomes a football field, and laughter fills the air. It is in these small, beautiful moments that their resilience shines brightest.

But play is not just fun — it is vital.

🧠 It builds imagination.
🤝 It fosters friendships.
💪🏾 It strengthens minds and bodies.
❤️ And most importantly — it helps children heal, grow, and dream.

Every child — no matter where they live — deserves the right to play.

At Saint Ann Foundation, we’re working to create safe, joyful spaces for children in remote areas like Buyiga Island — where play is no longer a luxury, but a daily part of childhood.

🧸 Help us bring play back to Buyiga. One swing. One ball. One smile at a time.

🌿 Every Child Deserves a Chance 🌿

Many children come into this world having already lost everything.

Some never feel the warmth of a mother’s hug…
Some never hear their father call their name…
Some never taste the sweetness of breast milk or know what it means to be held in love.

These are the innocent and voiceless—left in the care of elderly grandparents who have nothing to give but tears and prayers. No milk. No clothing. No safe place to sleep. Just survival.

At Saint Ann Foundation, this is the heartbreaking reality we witness every day.

Like baby Jose, only 6 months old.
He lost his mother during childbirth and now lives with her 2-year-old brother and an aging grandmother. No income. No food. No medical care. And yet—those little eyes still carry hope.

We believe hope is not enough without action.

These children deserve more than to be forgotten.
💛 You and I can change this.

With just a little love, a little support, and a shared heart for humanity—we can give children like Aisha a future. A safe home. Warm milk. Clean clothes. Medical care. And most of all—dignity.

Let us be the voice for the voiceless.
Let us be the parents for the parentless—especially in hard-to-reach areas where their cries often go unheard.

Let’s not turn away.
Let’s be the family they never had.

👉 Join us in restoring childhood and dignity to Uganda’s most vulnerable.
Together, we can raise a generation that was never meant to be lost.

From Poverty to Prosperity – A Journey of Hope

I was once a child with no shoes, no parents, and no certainty about the next meal. Even owning a simple cloth felt like a blessing. I grew up in deep poverty, surrounded by silence and struggle. But I also carried something powerful within me—hope.

Today, I am a university graduate, a father, and the founder of Saint Ann Foundation. I had every opportunity to chase personal success and financial comfort. But I chose to use my story to change other people’s stories. Because I believe that true prosperity is not just about what you earn—it’s about what you give back.

Yes, it is possible to rise from poverty to prosperity.

Prosperity is when you lift others up. It’s when you choose purpose over profit. It’s when your past becomes someone else’s breakthrough.

At Saint Ann Foundation, we are building a new kind of prosperity—where children are educated, girls are empowered, women are protected, and entire communities rise together. From forgotten villages like Buyiga Island, we are proving that even the smallest light can break the deepest darkness.

You too can be part of this journey.

Let’s turn pain into purpose, struggle into strength, and poverty into prosperity—together.

🌹 In Loving Memory of Auntie Ann 🌹

Auntie Ann, your legacy lives on in the countless lives you touched with your compassion and courage. You will always be remembered for the selfless love and care you gave to children in need — especially for saving the life of Abel Robert Ssekayombya, whose journey led to the founding of Saint Ann Foundation in your honor.

Through this foundation, your light continues to shine — bringing hope, education, and opportunity to vulnerable children and families. You planted a seed of kindness that is now a tree of impact. 🌱✨

Thank you, Auntie Ann, for being a mother to the motherless, a guiding star for the lost, and a true symbol of unconditional love.

🕊️ Your legacy lives on. Your love never fades.

Losing a mother and growing up without knowing your father leaves a wound that never fully heals.

Search a beautiful baby is surviving on the mercy of God. He does not have the blessing of being breastfed, of being held by her mother, or even knowing the comfort of her father’s face. Her grandmother—though loving—is struggling to provide even the basics.

But despite it all, look at the smile. 🌟 A reminder that even in hardship, there is light.

We share his story not to ask for pity, but to shine a light on the many children who quietly endure similar realities in hard to reach areas like Buyiga Island. We must speak for them. Support them. Love them.

Every child deserves a chance to be nurtured, protected, and cherished. Let’s be the community that gives hope.
