International Sake Day! And Happy Birthday to Devin.

I don't know how you put up with me, but here we are.

You baited me with amazing sake and your beautiful cat.

I thank you for all your patience as I'm still getting used to living in LA.

We are honored to be recognized with a Michelin star and extend our heartfelt congratulations to every restaurant and team recognized this year.

Our deepest gratitude goes to the extraordinary team that makes n/naka possible each day. Your talent, dedication, and care are at the heart of every experience we create, and this recognition belongs to all of you.

We are equally grateful to our farmers, fishers, artisans, and producers, whose work inspires every season, and to our guests, whose trust and support have allowed us to continue this journey.

Thank you for being part of our story. We look forward to welcoming you to our table for many seasons to come.

With gratitude,

n/naka

A little life update 🎊

Last month, I decided to leave my job at n/naka and step away from restaurants and nightlife for the time being. 2025 was one of the roughest years yet, and being in line with the schedule of the sun feels like the right move for me right now.

I am so sad to leave n/naka. My time there was some of the most rewarding and educational work I’ve had the pleasure of doing in my 15 years in the restaurant and hospitality industry. It was a true honor working for such incredibly talented and knowledgeable female chefs like Chef Niki and Chef Carole, even if most of my time there was spent with da boyz.

In the meantime, if anyone needs someone who loves food, beverage, and organization, works from 9-5, and would like to help me afford future n/naka reservations, my inbox is open.

Things I'm grateful for this trip.

1. My dear friend who is letting me stay at her place in Tokyo. (Wedding photo is from 10 years ago) We haven't had a family home in Japan in ages now, and my mother and I lived out of a business hotel last year which felt pretty tough to do. My aunt in Tokyo who is like my second mother is diagnosed with alzheimer's. She still lives alone, but this provides a place for me to rest, recover, and comfortably work from home. (I gave up studying for wine exam after the first half of my trip and my body stopped functioning well 😅)

2. I'm ever so grateful for the inspiring sake professionals both in Japan and overseas. I didn't realize the importance of having role models and people who I look up to, until I found them. Everyone does so much incredible work constantly and I am so grateful to have role models in my life.

4. A job that lets me do what I love to do, which is to learn from the incredible community that supports sake and everything around it.
