Kirby and Heirloom are the perfect pair, yet they haven’t received any adoption applications.

Kirby is a total mush and lap cat, while Heirloom wants to be near you, but is more independent.
They have distinct personalities that make getting to know them, so much fun!

Their friendship has totally blossomed in their foster home with @sallyrumble and it’s baffling that no one within driving distance of NYC has scooped them up.

Heirloom lived in a warehouse and survived a fire, while Kirby was left on the street to fend for himself.

They are young! Between 1 and 2 years old, negative for FIV and FeLV, and of course neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Please share to your stories or grid. These boys deserve the best! And adopting them also frees up a foster home so that I can rescue more cats!

I’ve been thinking a lot about feline friendships and how special they are.

After losing one of my colony cats to heart failure yesterday, and watching her best friends sit quietly by the trap as I got ready to take her to the hospital, I am reminded that cats are incredibly social creatures. They bond deeply to other cats, and find so much comfort in their presence.

I paired Heirloom and Kirby and Coupe and Patric in their foster homes. All four are young, healthy cats, from varying circumstances, that I assumed would benefit from a friend, and it’s so rewarding to be proven right.

I don’t suggest adopting two cats because I am trying to “move more inventory” or free up foster homes, I suggest it because it is truly the best outcome for these cats.

Sadly, adoptions have been slow this Summer, but I’m hoping they pick up after Labor Day. If you know anyone within a few hours of NYC who would like to adopt a pair, please send them my way.

🗽NY’ers look out for each other, so when you work two blocks from MSG during an NBA title run, you do your best to make sure the vibes are immaculate. (*Someone* stank up the place the other day.) Burned some sage on my lunch break yesterday ahead of Game 4 to do my part.

🧡💙 This is a valentine to all of New York, one win away from the title, each one of us bringing good energy with every “Go Knicks!” to a stranger on the street. (Secret code for “I love you” shhh 🤫)

Kirby and Heirloom are the perfect pair!

Kirby is probably around 8 or 9 months old and we think Heirloom is 1 or 2. They are both fully vetted, negative for FIV and FeLV and would love to meet you.

We are open to out of state adopters within a reasonable drive from NYC.

Heirloom would like to remind you that he’s still here and would very much like to find a family that will watch the NBA Playoffs with him.

He’s a huge Knicks fan, naturally, and wears orange every day in their honor.

So I originally didn’t think Heirloom and Beefsteak were related because Heirloom was much more social and seemed smaller, but now that blind Beefy is pain free and a total mush, he’s actually pretty petite. I think they are brothers, and with Beefsteak off to his forever home, it’s Heirloom’s turn!

Here’s what his amazing foster mom @sallyrumble has to say about him:

Heirloom aka “Ollie” is a 1-year-old ginger tabby with a full social calendar and absolutely no time for laps.

This playful, curious boy came from an industrial warehouse, so he’s still figuring out this whole “human” thing, but don’t let that fool you. Give him a little patience and he’ll be trotting after you from room to room like a tiny orange shadow. He’s just not ready to cuddle yet. He’s busy.

Heirloom lives for the thrill of the chase, toy mice, feather wands, anything airborne. When he’s in the mood for something different, you’ll find him parked in front of cat TV on YouTube like it’s his job. He also has a very specific, very unexplained fascination with watching a clean toilet flush. We don’t question it.

As a kitty still building his confidence, Heirloom feels safest napping in cozy, tucked-away spots, a closet, under the bed, his own little HQ. Just call his name and he’ll come bounding out, ready for round two.

He is an enthusiastic eater, a devoted @inaba_northamerica Churu fan, and an all-around good boy on the move.

Heirloom would thrive in a home with another young cat or kitten to match his energy, and a person who appreciates a cat who loves you, just from the other side of the couch, for now.

Huge thanks to foster mama @sallyrumble for providing such a calm space for our sweet boy to transition from a burnt out industrial warehouse, to a comfy couch!

He just got his FVRCP booster shot and is now fully ready to meet his forever family.

We think he’s just about a year old, so he’d do best in a home with another playful kitty, or as a single with lots of attention.

NYC preferred, but I’m also open to adopters within a reasonable driving distance of Brooklyn.
