As The Circle Hbg has discussed mutual aid, others in our wider Harrisburg community are doing the same! The Harrisburg Tool Library is a new and important venture in our city. The Circle Hbg is thrilled to help locate and supply needed items. Please see the attached list and reach out to info@hbgtoollibrary.com if you have any questions.

If you'd like to donate any of their requested items, you can bring them to one of The Circle Hbg's December gatherings. We will then arrange to deliver your donation.

Daffodil the cattle dog was our teaching artist last week - she taught us to closely observe deer, follow intuitive movement, and she even showed us her favorite pages from Teachings of the Hindu Mystics

Today is the last day to donate to the #25kbyChristmas campaign. We sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to helping Kara and Layla rebuild after the fire that destroyed their home and took the lives of their pets just before the holidays. Whether through a donation, sponsorship, sharing, or helping with the campaign in another way, you made a difference for Kara and Layla.

Kara and Layla face a long road to recovery. Kara had hoped to buy a home for her and Layla, while Layla dreamed of getting her driver’s license. Unfortunately, those goals have been put on hold due to the financial and emotional stress caused by the fire.

Despite these challenges, the fire didn’t take their hope. Kara continues to pursue her promotion to histiotecnician, a course of study that will take over a year, and will support Layla in exploring college programs during the summer if Layla is ready.

Throughout this campaign, we have worked to balance Kara and Layla’s privacy with the need for awareness and keeping donors informed. One thing is clear: when we observe someone in distress, we may never fully understand their story. We often remain unaware of their pain, their history, or the complex circumstances that led to their tears or forced their smiles.

You gave anyway.
Many of you without even knowing Kara and Layla.
Those were acts of radical generosity for which we are eternally grateful.

“We are really lucky to have such strength and support when we need it. We’ve had a lot of people show up for us. Our friends and family and people we love and care about, and not just that but people we don’t even know, and it’s really helped us to rebuild and start to have some hope for the future.”

–Kara Schelb

That moment when you hit #25kbychristmas and don’t even realize it 🤣

We are so grateful to the community–to you–for lifting up this mother and daughter in their time of need. On Christmas Day we EXCEEDED our goal of raising $25k to Help Kara and Layla Rebuild. Even a Pheonix like Kara needs the wind to rise from the ash.

Kara and Layla still have a long road ahead after losing their home and pets in the fire, so we are keeping the website live for any last minute contributions until New Year’s Day. Thank you for opening your hearts to this mother and daughter in their time of need.

8️⃣ days until Christmas and ALL you donations doubled for this mother and daughter who lost everything, including two beloved pets, in a house fire.

Kara said the hardest part for her is getting through the workday without breaking down, but the thing that gets her though is knowing that there are people out there—people she doesn’t even know—who care.

There are real people behind this campaign who care about Kara and Layla. Please help my best friend and her daughter who lost everything in a house fire.

🎄Christmas is right around the corner, and every dollar counts. Donate via the link in our bio!

Do you have a gift exchange coming up? Consider asking for a donation to Kara and Layla’s campaign instead of that what-cha-ma-call-it. With just nine days until Christmas and every donation doubled (thanks to local businesses!), every dollar makes a difference. Help us ensure Kara and Layla have the Christmas they deserve 🎄💝✨

Close your eyes and imagine what it would feel like to start over right now. Kara is a hard working lab tech at UPMC and Layla is a student at WAHS. We are all just one house fire away from devastation. The community has rallied and we are so close to meeting our goal of #25kbychristmas. Kara and Layla need your support now more than ever! Let’s get them there by Christmas morning: link in bio

The benefit show for Kara & Layla at Antlers on the Water was such a huge success…and better yet, it brought the community together. With endless baskets from local businesses, to a 7 hour band lineup - to hot chocolate flights!

All-in-all the benefit raised dollars to support Kara & Layla as they rebuild their lives. None of this would have been possible without the amazing Williamsport & surrounding communities.

All we have is us - and it takes a village. Thank you to everyone that came out, all the amazing bands for playing, the venue for hosting, the businesses for contributing, and the countless volunteers who came together to pull this off. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.
