School is officially back in session, and we’re still shining from Her Time to Shine! ✨📚

In partnership with the @connecticutsun we brought Boston girls together for an afternoon centered on confidence, connection, wellness, and stepping into the new school year knowing it’s her time to shine.

From celebrating individuality to creating space for young women to connect, learn, and have fun, the day was all about reminding every girl that her voice, her goals, and her future matter.

Here’s to a new school year filled with big dreams, bold moves, and plenty of moments to shine. 💫

This is for the love of hair! I truly enjoy getting to be creative with your 👑. @aaliyah_dhbk_kindness is such a beautiful soul. She ALWAYS comes into the salon and lights up the place! Always has a smile, amazing personality, and something positive to share. She also, loves to try new things with her hair and believes in the power of consistency and listening to your stylists recommendations. ⁣

Her hair has truly transformed over the last year since coming to @salvagedroots and it’s because she gets it. This style was so much fun to do and to see the final result was stunning. Thank you for trusting me! You are IT GIRL! 🩷

“Catch my work outside, how about that?!” 😜 One of my biggest joys is seeing my clients outside with their fabulous hair! This beauty told me she was ALSO volunteering for the 741 Farewell Frequency Fest and I had to take the MOMENT for this gorgeous style! This was days after I did her hair, and as you can see it is still beautiful! I strive for longevity, health, and growth, with each appointment. This is my why! Y’all are so dope! I love my clients!

We turned that peek-a-boo blonde into a reverse ombré!!!! I couldn’t have been more obsessed with how this turned out. Luka is such a special young person! I’m so grateful that he lets me play with vibrant colors and fun haircuts! This look was truly a collaboration of the minds and it inspired me so much that I ended up dying my own hair pink! I truly love when I’m able to express myself creatively! This was so much fun! 💜🩷 #boston #bostonwhileblack #bostonblackhairstylist #bostonblackhairsalon #explorepage✨

Destiny!!!!! This beauty met me months ago and at the end of her appointment told me, “I think I’m going to get engaged this weekend!” I was literally so shocked and excited for her. I love that my clients trust me with their hair for important milestones in their lives. She came back for this color appointment and said, “guess what? I got engaged!!!!” I was so happy for her and she was so happy to do a subtle color change that adds brightness and fun to her hair and life. This is what it’s all about! I love making yall happy! This one was so special for me! 🥰 #bostonwhileblack #bostonblackhairstylist #bostonnaturalhair #explorepage✨ #bostonnaturalhairstylist

Authenticity is so beautiful! Have fun with your hair! Express yourself, and smile! I love doing Michelle’s hair because she has so much fun with it. She wasn’t sure how the double strand twist and bun would look but she was willing to give it a try and look at how happy and beautiful she looks! This one was so much fun, we had a whole photoshoot after! 🩷😍

What an incredible weekend. ✂️✨
Thank you to every stylist, salon owner, artist, educator, model, sponsor, donor, curator, volunteer, judge, attendee, and supporter who helped bring the first Hair Symposium & Showcase to life.
Congrats to all the showcase contenders and to @locticious_houseoflocs for 🥇 and to @bostonhairnista @1barberblacks @beautybykelly0 @hairbyalexajay for their creative and expert looks 🤩
Thanks to our esteemed judges @hairess_kai @iamambiancellc @juliaforboston @madisonparktvhs
Thank you to our funders @bostonoeoi @bostonmainstreets @square 🙏 and for the curators and party-makers @the_curated_shift @newdaystudio.media @rosevisualsphotography @djladyly @themix_boston @lobzterking 🪄
Together, we celebrated the creativity, persistence, entrepreneurship, and artistry of Boston’s beauty industry — and uplifted the salons that serve as the economic engines and cultural heartbeats of our commercial districts.
Thank you to everyone who shared their space, expertise, energy, resources, and vision to make this happen. The turnout, participation, and excitement proved that this community is hungry for connection, education, visibility, and celebration.
This was more than a showcase. It was momentum. And we are going to keep building on it. 🔥
