Hailing from the vibrant musical landscape of South Africa, DJ Chiedza (chee-yed-zuh) emerges is a dynamic force in the Bristol DJ scene, pulsating with the rhythms of the diaspora. Her sonic palette weaves a tapestry of soulful amapiano, melodic Afro-house, and the bassy beats of GQOM, crafting an electrifying fusion that transcends borders. A regular DJ on Noods Radio, and having recently warmed up for Kilimanjaro's surprise Bristol appearance, Chiedza's s sets are not just auditory experiences, but journeys of joy and unity. We can't wait to see what she brings to the Ruffnek dancefloor!

Burland has been primarily working with West African artists to make a hybrid sound between Afrobeat, Dancehall, Percussion and 140, UK Garage & Bass music. His previous collaborations include K.O.G (Nubiyan Twist, Onipa), Zongo Abongo (The Busy Twist), Master Drummer Okoe Ashiboi (formerly Kakatsitsi) and a remix project with Fixate. A regular on BBC Radio 6, Burland has received support from Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova and Toddla T - Madam X, Tash LC and Chloé Robinson over at BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra, as well as a track feature in DJ Mag courtesy of Sicaria. Serious musician, we're utterly stoked he's coming to play for us!

Ruffnek regulars, and Super Soca Show core members, Atki2, Dub Boy and Jonesy Wales will be on the support duties. Expect plenty of exclusives, including hot productions from Jonesy's studio, and fresh cuts from Atki2's new album 'Bubble On' which drops imminently!

There's a whole bunch of stuff going on in July I think you should know about. I'm hosting and DJing a couple of nights. Also I want to shout about a few things my mates are putting on that I'm not directly involved with, but I think you should attend anyway because they're gonna be HYPE.

Ruffnek Diskotek are doing a Pride special at @cosiesbristol this Saturday 8th July with an allstar lineup: @tryb_official @skillis___ @jonesy_wales and of course @sam_atki2 at the controls. Can't wait for this one!

Then on Thursday 13th I've invited the one and only @keshenanigans to join me for some pan-genre tomfoolery at The Bell, Bristol.

I really want to give a big shout out to @nico_rukus and @paulie_asine who will be debuting their new Full Fat night based on breaks, garage and ravey dance bangers at the Attic Bar in Bristol. That's Fri 14th July. Looks (and sounds) like an amazing night and everyone should go.

I'm honoured to be playing IMO secretly the best slot at @biglovefestival in Usk, South Wales on Saturday 15th July. It really is one of the best little festivals in the UK and if you haven't got a ticket yet, get one! I'll be closing out Saturday night in the Disco Barn for the Silent Disco. It was a riot last year.

Last but not least, it's the big one: TERRAIN at Cosies! on Friday 21st July. A night of Global Bass Bangers with @therealiroyx, @nico_rukus, @driftygram, @soundscape95 and myself going bananas on the decks.

If we get out of July alive, it'll be a miracle - but at least we'll have had fun!

St Paul’s Carnival, Bristol, 2023. Machel Montano’s modern classic “Like ah boss” from the @ujimaradio float. The Super Soca Show and the Dancehall Generals bringing the real Carnival sounds. Raving culture, Caribbean festival, sunshine and good vibes. British summertime at it’s very finest.
