How will you quantify this year?

A question I haven’t quite answered myself yet. A lot has changed, a lot has stayed the same.

What I do know though, is that it was an incredible summer in the mountains with friends and family.

Reminder for tomorrow’s Heritage Day / GBV trail run

🖤 WEAR BLACK as a small but visible show of solidarity with women and girls affected by GBV and femicide in South Africa.

👟 BRING YOUR PRE-LOVED RUNNING SHOES
Sandiso from REVIVE will be joining us with his September Mental Health Shoe Drive.
Please bring a pair of your pre-loved running shoes and pop them into the back of the REVIVE truck.

Every pair is an opportunity for someone else to take their first step towards movement, community and better health. And as a little thank you, everyone who donates a pair will get a sachet of REVIVE’s new litchi flavour.

It didnt take me long to complain about all the people on the trail. There was an unexpected Dub festival down in the valley where we parked, reminiscent of Cape Town energy. The route, I had assumed would be quiet, being so high and remote. Things easily made more sense though, once we started to understand the beauty of the terrain around us.

Up high on the Hochkönig sits Matrashaus - Pip had found us one of the most exposed huts in Austria. Beautifully perched at 2941m/asl it overlooks some of the best alpine terrain we have felt in the Eastern Alps.

Haus Für Mozart, Salzburg Festspiele 2026.

My dad used to love Mozart (and all classical music, really). I have distinct memories of him blasting classical music in the car and me understanding absolutely none of it, wishing he’d put on something “normal”. Fast forward 20 years later, @samannelawson, Rebecca and I are sitting in Mozart’s hometown about to watch a live orchestral performance. It was quite surreal, and something I’m sure he would’ve loved.

NOBODY PANIC but Destiny had her first child 🤲

firstly, massive shout out to @si_smit for the recipe and guidance - it’s fun to learn from an experienced human rather than the internet 🫶

second, there’s a gap in filming because i panicked (i know i said don’t panic) and thought it would be a moerse flop mid-way and i didn’t want to fail (what control issues?) but there was some biblical grade resurrection in the oven. shout out to chemistry.

third, Destiny has since had her second child, and it’s even better than the first. it be like that some times, #firstborns am i rite?

much learning has occurred! might be obsessed! bread is life!
