Meet Samaquias Lorta, artist in residence at ONSITE Immersion 2026:

interdisciplinary artist whose work bridges ecological thought, mental health, and identity, deeply influenced by personal experiences of loss, perseverance and poverty. Within this exploration Samaquias has found live-performance to be the rooting of this exploration often building feedback systems alongside graphic notation to depict these narratives. Lorta’s most recent works include original compositions and performances with Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin (2022, 2024), Sound Director for permanent installations with Po:era Collective at Bruecke Museum + Kesselhaus Herzberg Museum, featured artist at Manifest:IO, and the most recent composition releasing on the label re:natura titled Soil & Spirits (available on Bandcamp, 2025

☀️ Our Summer Series continues with the third workshop, presented by Echospheric & Acker Stadt Palast.

Performance Lab is a series of workshops and mentorship sessions designed to give you the tools to perform your own sound performance on stage. Over the course of three workshops and a mentorship day, the program culminates in a live public showcase at Acker Stadt Palast, giving you the stage to share your experiment with an audience.

Workshop 3 | 29/08

Case Studies on Instrument Building

The possibilities in sound art are arguably its defining feature. Toys, tools, cables, resonators, amplifiers, chips, and the vast array of gadgets let us shape the sonic stories we want to tell. This workshop will explore various artist setups to discover different paths to instrument building. By dabbling in the toolkits of these artists, one can find endless possibilities for creating sound. Students can expect both theoretical analysis and hands-on examples.

This workshop is led by Samaquias Lorta.

The complete series also includes:
• 15/08 · Composing a Live Performance by Berenice Llorens
• 16/08 · Sound Dramaturgy by Lutz Gallmeister
• 30/08 · Mentoring by the Echospheric Team
• 12/09 · Participants Performance at Acker Stadt Palast

🎟️ Join the full series or register for this workshop through the link in our bio (or via the Eventbrite link in this post).

Please note: The Mentorship Session is required for anyone participating in the final performance

Today, we are releasing our first community production, Detritum.

Starting in the fall of 2025, Detritum was conceived as a community production: Each artist received a specific recording. In a collaborative decomposition, these recordings served as a starting point for individual exploration and communal exercise.

Detritum is a study of transformation – of how sound, like matter, can be broken down and reformed. What begins as the microscopic activity of decomposers beneath the undergrowth becomes the seed of a larger, collective process: sounds passed between artists, eroded, absorbed, and reconstituted into new configurations. The project treats listening itself as a kind of ecological practice – an attention to the fragile, residual, and transient.

We invite you to tune in or attend our listening session in-person on Saturday 25 July from 15:00 - 18:00. (please e-mail for RSVP)

☀️ Welcome to our new Summer Workshop Series, presented by Echospheric & Acker Stadt Palast.

Performance Lab: From Ideas to Stage

Performance Lab is a series of workshops and mentorship sessions designed to provide technical frameworks, artistic inspirations and practical guidance needed to translate concepts directly onto the stage.

The journey culminates in a live public showcase at Acker Stadt Palast, where you will have the stage to share your experiment with an audience.

🌱 It is a self-funded and independently organized event, so please feel welcome to help us expand our community.

(secret location, please e-mail re:natura for RSVP)

Starting in the fall of 2025, Detritum was conceived as a community production: Each artist received a specific recording from a place of biological decay. In a collaborative decomposition, these recordings served as a starting point for individual exploration and communal exercise.

/// Listening Session 25.07 - 15:00 (email for location)
The listening session invites audiences to witness the presentation of Detritum both online and in-person. Various forms of pressure and erosion will be applied to the limited print vinyls throughout the session creating another layer to the degradation process. Interludes will take place throughout giving room for artists to provide context behind their production while being available to the audience for questions. Friends are welcome.
🌱 Please RSVP by emailing label.re.natura@gmail.com

CALL FOR SUBISSIONS (ends June 28th)

Not two, not four, but six limbs move in rhythm, scatter in chaos, march in unity. With antennae raised and wings poised, the insect world teems with sound, form, and ingenuity.

For re:natura 06 – Hexapoda, we invite you to explore the vast and varied realm of insects through sound. Hexapoda – the scientific term for six-legged arthropods – offers a rich terrain for sonic exploration: from the faint subterranean rustle of Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa (the European mole cricket) and the soil-turning toil of Anoplotrupes stercorosus (the dor beetle), to the sky-darkening migrations of Danaus plexippus (the monarch butterfly) and the swarming cacophonies of Schistocerca gregaria (the desert locust).

We are calling for works that respond to the insect as biological marvel, ecological force, metaphor, and mystery. Dive deep into the buzzing labyrinth: topics might include colony behavior, parasitism, mimicry, metamorphosis, swarm intelligence, extinction, pollination, or the evolutionary genius of adaptation.

The more specific, the better. Get inspired by iridescent carapaces, pheromonal communication, formic architecture, cicada choruses, mosquito drones.

Derived from Latin crescere (“to grow”), our fifth compilation listens to growth in all its forms – reefs regenerating, bodies mutating, swarms dispersing, forests reemerging. Across scales microscopic to planetary, these works remind us that biodiversity is not only seen but heard, always in motion, always becoming.
