Dolphi-Goddess Modular Breathing Helmet.

This helmet is my favourite wearable object me and @samcarvosso @ossomas_studio have made so far I’m in love with her.

I wore her in the water and the sensory experience was beautiful, all I could hear was the ocean up close and my breath, no vision, just sound and my body in the water. When I wear her I become dolphin.

The helmet comes apart into three modular sections. The dolphin’s mouth detaches from the main shell, revealing an internal breathing structure that channels both air and water through the piece. The transparent resin skull cap allows the black liquid inside to remain visible, while the breathing chamber also functions as a dolphin whistle when blown into / worn with tubes and water.

Materials - 3D printed PLA, 3D printed resin, DuoTone car paint, G.L.O.S.S., silicone tubing, black liquid, pumps, breath. Dimensions 29 × 31 x 33cm.

On show at @slugtown_ for one more week until 05.07 WET GODDESS: Recollections of a Dolphin Lover.

Celebrating 10 years at Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop, we’re continuing to revisit the Radical Residency Programme, an experimental strand of our residency model that has supported 8 Radical Residencies to date. Each four-week residency culminated in a group exhibition, offering artists time, proximity and shared space to test ideas and expand their practices.

Radical Residency III (Spring 2019) brought together a diverse group of artists working across installation, sculpture, painting, film and performance. Here we introduce the first five artists.

Tobias Becker (@tobias__becker) explores the collision between digital realities and analogue systems. Through installation, film and photograms, his work reflects on how past technologies shape present and future forms of perception.

Sam Carvosso (@samcarvosso ) constructs immersive pseudo-realities rooted in landscape, memory and mediated imagery. Drawing on sources such as film and online archives, his work sits between nostalgia and imagination, questioning how truth is assembled.

Sooyoung Chung (@mi__fish ) examines everyday objects and interiors as intimate portraits of contemporary life. Her paintings transform personal details into shared cultural tropes, revealing how identity is shaped through consumption and routine.

Juliette Dominati works across installation, performance and film, using collage-like methods to restage lived experiences. By blurring reality and fiction, her practice captures gestures, memories and narratives of everyday life.

Géraldine Honauer (@geraldinehonauer ) investigates the shifting status of objects as they move between life and art. Her sculptural practice focuses on transformation, temporality and the value systems that define what art can be.

Radical Residency III further affirmed Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop as a vital testing ground for experimentation, exchange and risk-taking.

Final week to visit The Land and Us | La Tèrre et Nous at ArtHouse Jersey. Such a pleasure to have curated and developed this project alongside @karenleroyharris 💚

The Land and Us explores our past, present and future habitation of the land in Jersey. Travelling from our ancient neolithic past, when the land was a sacred site of ritual, through our farming traditions, oral histories and earthly language of Jèrriais, to our woodlands, indigenous species and pathways that encircle the Island, The Land and Us is a place to gather and reflect on the natural world.

The exhibition is the culmination of a year-long community learning programme that took place at ArtHouse Jersey and community centres across the Island. Thank you to Remi, Hannah, Alice and Sam who were all commissioned to produce new work in direct collaboration with community groups – your talent, care and dedication shaped this project and deepened our bonds with the Island and each other.

Thank you to the entire @arthousejersey team for your genuine support of artists and the community – it’s rare to work with such a nurturing organisation.

A fantastic project working with @samcarvosso. This is Sam’s Waymarker sculpture showcased at The Land and Us | La Tèrre et Nous, @arthousejersey.

3D printed PLA coated in a ceramic shell.

This sculpture is made from ceramic shell, the same material I use for building investment moulds for aluminium and bronze. The ceramic moulds often exhibit sculptural qualities as captivating as the metal castings themselves. Sam utilized the natural texture of ceramic shell to replicate the rocks and cliffs surrounding Jersey. Notably, this sculpture maxed out my kiln space, measuring 75x75x95cm.

Big multi part print to produce ‘Waymarker’ printed for The Land and Us | La Tèrre et Nous @arthousejersey. Not possible without @foundrykowalski expert skills in the foundry! Printed in PLA and then coated in a ceramic shell before being fired in the kiln. The PLA melts out leaving a hollow textured ceramic shell (this shelling is used for metal casting, but in this case the piece uses the ceramic as the final material).
