“It looks very fancy. It is an emotional roller coaster business.”
— Samir Srivastav, on running salons

Samir has spent two decades on that roller coaster. He worked at Marico, spent seven years running Kaya Skin Clinic across the Middle East, led a vertical at VLCC, and then scaled Jean-Claude Biguine in India from 8 salons to 21. When he left, he said his baby had grown up and it was time to nurture another one. That next one is Looks Salon, where he became CEO in 2023, taking charge of one of India’s biggest luxury salon chains, with close to 200 outlets across more than 50 cities at the time.

He insists he’s in hospitality, not beauty. At Looks, floor managers are called service quality experts, and he has been known to remember which regular’s husband drinks black coffee.

We’re glad to have Samir at Pitchers & Movers. Enrich’s Vikram Bhatt is on the lineup too, so that’s two salon heavyweights at one table.

If you run a service business where the experience is the product, spend time with him. Come with good hair. Consider yourself warned.

The Unpuzzle Project turns one. A year of founder tables, straight talk and introductions that turned into deals, hires and friendships. We’re grateful to have found a place in this ecosystem, and we’re celebrating with the people who built it with us.

Pitchers & Movers, our Year One celebration.
