Training should be purposeful, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun😎 Movement should be challenging, fun, and something kids look forward to‼️ By making training enjoyable, we can help young athletes build confidence, coordination, athletic skills, and a positive relationship with movement that can last a lifetime📈 Train with purpose. Move with confidence. Have fun along the way.💪 BE THE BEST YOU 🐺 CHRISTUS Health Athletic Performance Center 📞 903-606-8855 📍 1543 E. Grande Blvd. Tyler, TX 75703 💯 Be the BEST. YOU.

Athleticism that truly transfers isn’t built by mastering one movement, one pattern, or one way of training‼️ It’s built through variety💡 Different positions. Different speeds. Different directions. Different constraints. Different ways to produce, absorb, stabilize, react and adapt. The goal isn’t to make an athlete really good at a drill. The goal is to build a toolbox of movement solutions they can draw from when the environment changes and the problem isn’t predictable.Because sport is a constant problem-solving environment.🛠️🧰⚙️ The athlete who has experienced more movement variability has more solutions available to them📢 More tools → more options → better adaptability📈 Train the athlete, not just the movement✅ #AthleticDevelopment #LongTermAthleteDevelopment #SportsPerformance #MovementVariability #Athleticism BE THE BEST YOU 🐺 CHRISTUS Health Athletic Performance Center 📞 903-606-8855 📧 info@teamapec.com 💻 Teamapec.com 📍 1543 E. Change of Direction 🆚 Agility Using these two terms interchangeably is like comparing a 15 year old with a learner’s permit to Dale Earnhardt Jr. Sure, both drivers can stop at a stop sign and stay between the lines. But does that make them the same caliber driver? Not even close. Why? Because a stop sign is pre planned. You control the pace. You control the timing. You are completely in control. That is Change of Direction. The true separator? Reactivity. Agility requires so much more than just the physical ability to change how you’re running. It requires an external stimulus that forces you to instantly shift, jump, cut, or stop. Put that same 16 year old in the middle of the Daytona 500. While Dale Jr. thrives in the chaos, the kid can’t process the environment fast enough to keep up safely. Athletes: You can’t just train change of direction. Cone drills are a good start, but if you want game speed agility, you have to introduce a reactive component that forces you to read, process, and move. 🧠⚡️

Speed isn’t just for athletes — it’s for life. If you don’t use it, you lose it. Power starts declining in your 30s and drops faster after 50 — mostly because we stop moving fast. That leads to harder daily movement, less activity, and higher fall risk. Speed = power. So we train it. Sprinting is introduced gradually, but it’s awesome seeing adults hit maximal 10-yard sprints You’re not too old — you just have to train it.
