Naturally, we have to go back to where it all started — DivaDance.

About six months after my breakup, I was looking for something to do — a hobby, a creative outlet. I decided maybe it was finally time to try dance. So, I went online and searched for “adult dance classes.” That’s when I found @divadancesandysprings . They had a special offer for a three-class pass, so I chose to try it.

Honestly, after two online classes (one I never even opened), I was about to let the third class go to waste. Then @chantelserita reached out, offering a bit more time and help signing up for an in-person class. I signed up, but I almost didn’t go. That afternoon, I was so anxious about the class that I decided to take a nap. During that nap, I had TWO dreams about missing dance class and remember being really upset about it. I saw that as a sign, and despite my nerves, I went. That decision changed everything! I started attending class as often as I could (some weeks up to six classes). I found joy. I found community. I found movement in a way that felt really, really good. Most importantly, I started finding myself. My confidence grew with every class and each connection I made within those walls.

I can’t get into the current part of my dance journey, without reflecting a bit on the past, so I figured I would share a few of my favorite choreos from my time there.

I’d bet 💰MONEY💰 that most of your “best friends” aren’t actually your best friends.

Not because they’ve done anything wrong.

But because we’ve mistaken familiarity for connection.

We’ve confused the people who’ve known us the longest with the people who know us the deepest.

A best friend isn’t defined by time.

They’re defined by how they make us FEEL.

They make us feel safe enough to be FULLY ourselves —without performing, shrinking, or pretending.

Friendships change as we change.

Sometimes the wounds that bonded us, heal.

Sometimes we simply outgrow the roles we once played in each other’s lives.

Growth isn’t betrayal—but holding on to someone, or forcing yourself into relationships you’ve outgrown, is.

Best Friendships are built on honesty, freedom, trust, and the courage to help each other become who we truly are and sometimes that means letting go.
