published in Summer 2023

Sana, Sana is a witness to the multiple wounds etched into the landscape of Latinx experience and a testimonial to community efforts to heal them. A multi-genre anthology rooted in the deep desire to not only acknowledge and name the various forms of pain and trauma Latinx people experience regularly, but to do so in the service of imagining new futures and ways of being that prioritize healing and justice not just for Latinx people, but for Queer BIPOC communities and, ultimately, for all people.

The book’s vision and understanding of Latinidad is broad and expansive. It centers Black, Indigenous, Queer, Trans, and Feminist Latinidades. By advancing an unapologetically radical antiracist, anticapitalist, feminist, and queer politic Sana, Sana holds creative and defiant space for identifying economic, social, political, emotional, and spiritual strategies to forge individual and collective healing and justice.

Listen up: Do not let these fools lie on you. 💅🏽

Stephen M*ller went on national TV & pushed the lie that we come from nothing.

Let me remind you: WE ARE EVERYTHING.

Everything in this country exists because of our hands, our sweat, our tears, our blood, our fight, our sacrifice.

And it is because we have become so powerful that they are systematically dismantling everything we have built up.

It is because of everything we have beautifully achieved despite the insurmountable odds that they are banning books, silencing people, & trying to erase our legacy.

We will not let them because we are everything. We are the living & breathing archives of struggle in this country, & you can’t silence the collective voice of the people.

Hey Bestie, it’s time. 🫂

I know this is the impossible conversation. The one that has likely kept you up at night. The one you have tossed and turned over and over again between your grinding teeth. The one you hoped and prayed would never come. It is time to have that conversation.

I know I don’t have to recount to you the litany of horrid attacks occurring against immigrant communities across the country at the hands of this current administration because you have likely been following them along like I have. Every day we are witnessing more severe, more barbaric, more inhumane decisions being made that are quite literally ripping the fabric of our families apart. And it might feel like there is absolutely nothing in our control that we can do to protect our families. Here is what I know though, keeping us scared and frozen is a part of their plan, but our communities are continuing to find ways to resist, together. And it is working.

This is one of the key things we can do: we must create a family preparedness plan. And luckily, there are some incredible community organizations who have built resources to help us through this.

DM me your questions.

🌱🌱🌱From healing con vaporu, taking shots with your homegirls on facetime, to family funerals, losing your mother tongue, and returning to your whole self after everything…Sana Sana: Latinx Pain and Radical Visions for Healing and Justice reminded me to take care of me and take up space in my queer self just how I see fit.

To be accountable and compassionate, and to be the chingona I am, that we all can be.

A reminder to self, to grief, and to healing that pain itself can manifest and transform into the most holy and treasured.

Whether it’s looking at the moon or guiding loved ones through difficult times, justice is not only found in resistance but also found in imagining and creating spaces with and in community. 🌱🌱🌱

In anticipation of the creative, hopeful, and motivating energy of the New Year, please consider joining me for a workshop that will give you the support and tools to make those 2025 vision boards and New Year resolutions a reality. Any time of year is the best time of year to get about the business of our personal growth and transformation, but I understand that the New Year always brings an air of possibility and hope for what could be. What I want you to know, and please hear me now, is that change is not only possible but probable if we apply some tried and true tools and create a plan that will keep us motivated and accountable to our vision well beyond the first months of 2025. I would love to share with you my knowledge and experience of what you can do to lead your life in the direction YOU choose!

Register today and secure your seat in the workshop via Eventbrite.com (link in bio or follow the QR code). It would be an honor to be a part of making your hopes and dreams for 2025 come true, I hope to see you there! 🖤💜❤️

Did you want to make this past Tuesday’s writing workshop, but couldn’t attend? No worries, you haven’t missed out. Please join me at @pearlsbooks on Sunday, August 11th from 4:30-6:00PM for “Writing to Transform: A Workshop for Healing and Justice.”

In recent years, there has been much talk about transformation, both personal and societal. What gets talked about less is what it takes to achieve that transformation, especially when we are talking about healing and justice. In this workshop, through individual writing, we will clarify for ourselves the healing and justice we seek and desire. And from there, we shall explore what concrete steps we must take to achieve that healing and justice and the possible roadblocks we ourselves place in our path towards these goals.

PLEASE REGISTER FOR **FREE** AT EVENTBRITE.COM. LINK IN BIO.

We will be drawing inspiration and provocation from excerpts taken from the anthology “Sana, Sana: Latinx Pain and Radical Visions for Healing and Justice” (@sanasanaanth). Copies of the anthology will be available for purchase from Pearl’s Books. **Please note you do not need to be Latinx in order to participate in the workshop**

You are enthusiastically invited to this writing space, I look forward to seeing your courageous selves show up!

DON’T MISS OUT, REGISTER TODAY FOR THIS GREAT WORKSHOP! LINK IN @soulsupportlc BIO. For questions about the event, please DM David Glisch-Sanchez (@soulsupportlc) directly.

DESCRIPTION: Unfortunately pain and injustice are central features in human experience in the current world we occupy, but this workshop asserts that another world is possible. In order to concretely build our lives, and by extension a world, where kindness, fairness, respect, and justice are the norm, then we must be able to name and identify clearly that which harms us, individually and collectively, and describe in detail what a just and healed world looks and feels like to us. In short, we need to begin writing what’s hard.

This workshop draws its prompts and questions from the writings in the seminal anthology Sana, Sana: Latinx Pain and Radical Visions for Healing and Justice, edited by David Glisch-Sánchez (workshop facilitator) and Nic Rodríguez Villafañe. Using excerpts from the anthology, participants will have the opportunity and choice to focus their writing in the workshop space on one or more of the three themes: pain, healing, and justice. Participants will be invited to share what they write, but are not required to do so and are only encouraged to share as long as they are comfortable. We will end the workshop with a conversation about the process and experience of writing about these hard things.

Although the workshop takes as its start the witnessing of pain and the dreaming of healing and justice by Latinx writers, participants are not required to be Latinx in order to participate. The anthology was created to center Latinx experiences, but was intended to be a tool to facilitate and promote conversations around pain, healing, and justice across and within multiple communities. All that is required of participants is your willingness to be open and vulnerable in the writing process.

Copies of Sana, Sana: Latinx Pain and Radical Visions for Healing and Justice will be available for purchase through @twofriendsbooks
